1976 F1 season but... in current points system

Most likely the strategies would be different and results as well, but it is fun thing to check those "what ifs" :)

@@MKF1_official It definitely is. 2016 season with the old point system from 2003-2009 would be interesting aswell.

Well especially, if you would include Fastest Lap point that would likely be little different. Even that kinda blows how it works in current system.. basically someone just comes in 1-2 laps before the end of the race and takes the lap now. I doubt that's how they wanted the system to work and I don't think it's in very good place now. I would love to see Pole Position and Fastest Lap points in Formula 1, but do we really need to basically give 10 points to Hamilton and 10 points to Verstappen in each category? There might have been seasons, where those extra points would have made championship battle more interesting (like 2010, 2012 or anything with more than 2 drivers). But in ideal world Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari and maybe 4th team (McLaren or someone else) would be able to battle for wins and poles and whole system would look different.

The legend of that rivalry is great but let's be honest Lauda was by far the better driver that season and the win was really undeserved

You can see how far behind Hunt was before that, on the other hand his dsq was also quite controversial, since ferrari filled appeal for this dsq although they did the same thing in that race, just their driver did not finish the race

the funny thing is, that they made an 'epic' rivalry out of it, but it never was - when both were driving, Hunt was far away from Lauda - so, they never really met each other on the race track...

You should perhaps also multiply the points for older season to reflect the current 23 races seasons. So if it was just 10 races back then simply multiply by 2.3. That way it would be a even more “accurate” comparison.

toro rosso was the only team that was ferrari customer to win a grand prix and it was 2008 italian gp. considering the win was at modern era and just a single (1) win, no team other than ferrari got championship while using ferrari engine
