VIN is 6 for 1976, A for Atlanta, GA assembly, 47 for Ranchero 500, A for 460 V8 and the rest is the production sequence. The first and last "F" in the VINs are just denoting the "Ford Motor Company" and are there to validate the VIN plate as being an original. The original carburetor was probably some sort of "4100" Motorcraft unit by this year. This was probably salvageable with some effort.
@T0tenkampf2 жыл бұрын
Originally a Motorcraft but if you noticed the oem studs were in the coffee can and the installed studs were new...somebody grabbed the aftermarket that was probably there. I wouldnt bother with a OEM myself.
@googleusergp2 жыл бұрын
@@T0tenkampf Essentially a bad ripoff of the Holley and never any good. Stalling, shaking, shimmying and poor fuel economy. Ford's carburetion was among the worst in the industry. Yup, someone probably tired of it long ago and went the Edelbrock route or something like that.

@@T0tenkampf Parts and rebuild kits are readily available. The choke pull offs and choke thermostats may be getting a little scarce as some of them were unique to only a few carburetor numbers. Sometimes the aftermarket combined a few SKUs and they are "close", but not exact.

Man, I wish I had seen this. Have a 73 GT and a wrecked 72 GT that I have decided to put this exact front end on. Front bumperettes are kinda hard to come across since most people tossed em. That front end, rear bumper, cluster, 460/C6 and 9 inch would have left with me. Doors have a habit to rust out where the drain holes are and this car had two nice ones. Also rear quarter near exhaust always comes apart. Texas registers mine as a truck but its on a car chassis so will always be a car to me.

Cutting out the rusted areas and welding in patches in the roof or welding up the holes is a better solution than a fiberglass patch.

460 big block. Bet you the whole car that the she runs and drives, how much would it take for a fiberglass roof and a possible vinyl rewrap? Hope you claimed the cool gauge cluster or maybe the factory cassette radio ^^ Or maybe at the very least, the free soda ^^ Did you get a look at the Thunderbird? That looks promising!

I bet it would run drive without much work at all. I know it's frowned upon but I'd do a quick fiberglass job on it and ride out. At least it wouldn't be in the yard. Not sure what a new vinyl top would cost. I decided to leave it all as they tend ti be a little too high on prices at that yard. Even left the free Pepsi fir the next guy😄. I prefer diet Pepsi.
