I had 1 exactly like this on the outside but with black interior and Keystone Classic Mags n a bumpin Pioneer super tuner 3 cassette player with a sub! Most beautiful car I ever owned. It had 10 coats of clear n I had all the molding taken off. Cargo coil shocks in the back so it was perfectly level, raised white letter Supreme 70's on the front n 60's on the back! If this didn't have brown interior I would swear this was mine! What a sporty n luxury car it was! Man I miss it!😞 I'll have 1 again. This would've been a great find, I wouldn't have had to do much!! Thanks for the video!!!❤😎🤙

You absolutely must keep the 8-track tape deck. I grew-up with that body style of Grandprix....while in the Army, many of my buddies wanted those Grand Prixs with T-tops...they were and still are gorgeous cars. Congrats!
@jeffandconnortatadventure55103 жыл бұрын
It was the typical old car video....then the 8 track tape happened! Great authentic moment. Well done. Mine was the Pontiac 350 w/ 2 barrel carb. Not as nice as your's but it served me well. Paid $550 for it and put over 70,000 hard miles on it. Changed the oil and had the AC charged -- that was about it at 143,000 when I "traded it in" on a used Trans AM.

A long time ago, I worked with this guy who had a '74 Grand Prix done up in black primer. He had painted 455 on the front fenders, but the sticker in the engine bay said, 400 Cu. In. Whatever the case may be, I took a ride with him one Saturday in that car, and the car was like a rocket! Dual exhaust, posi rear and the roar from that engine was out of this world.

Pontiac did the B-Body better than anyone else at GM, and blew away everyone in the 70's on styling. Look at it from 1:47 and tell me that isn't the sexiest ride you could buy in our Bicentennial year! Hell, this is better looking than a '76 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina! Dammit, I miss Pontiac!
@gordocarbo Жыл бұрын
Neighbor had one of these when I was a kid carpooled in it. Bright met blue white interior, loved that thing .What awesome styling it had , Miss those old R12 systems. When you hear guys say they blew ice cold they really did! TOdays ac blowers may punp more air but nowhere near as cold.

My parents bought a 76 Pontiac Grand Prix brand new with a 455 black on black, 8 track tape, my dad asked the dealer to put honeycomb rims on. Absolutely loved that car. My parents split up a few years later and mom traded the Grand Prix for a Mazda 323 lol

My first car as a licenced driver was a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was baby blue on the exterior, had a crushed blue velour interior. and was a monster of a car. The trunk was so big that I could fit three people in there--plus a full-sized spare. I would like to romanticize it a bit more, but this was in 1982 and it was merely my daily driver. I bought the car from my dad's girlfriend at the time, and it cost me $1000. It had a radio with a built-in factory 8-track tape player that would blow the minds of today's young car owners, and the engine when working properly had all kinds of power. In fact, I used to take it drifting on dirt side roads, and the car was so long that when I lost control of a drift and she spun around in a 180, both front and rear bumpers used to hang over the edge of the road on both side until I regained control. I do not recall it having any rust, but the 4.9 litre V8 was temperamental and seemed to be in endless need of work to keep it running properly. My other issue with this boat of a car was the doors. Compared to modern cars the doors on my Grand Prix were massive and quite heavy. I eventually started having problems with the door hinges. On the driver's side, the door would droop on the hinges when opened and I would have to lift the door as I closed it to close it properly, so I had to leave it closed. My passenger door, on the other hand, did not droop when opened, but the entire latching mechanism was a broken mess. So what I had to do was climb in on the passenger side, close the door, tie it off with Bungie cords to keep it closed, then manipulate myself over the tranny hump and shifter, then fall into the driver's seat. I do not recall sweating about the cost of gas to feed my Grand Prix, but this was 1982, and gas was $1.22 an imperial gallon, or 29.6 cents per litre. This car also used a bumper jack in order to change a tire, and while these types of jack worked great, you had to make sure you were on perfectly level ground or the car would tip right off the jack. One never forgets their first car, and I will never forget my Grand Prix, but I do not think that I would want it back today.

350 OR 400 GM Turbo transmissions. Likely the 400 in this car with that 455.
@mikee29236 ай бұрын
All Grand Prix models 73-76 that came equipped with a Turbo 400 transmission, even the 1977 with the 301. But in 1977 when bought in California or high altitude areas that had California emissions would have an Oldsmobile or Chevy 350 or Olds 403. Those cars came with the Turbo 350.

Did I see shag carpet on the floor? LOL.. :-) Those were sharp cars, back when I was 20, I used to work with somebody who had a mid 1970s white Grand Prix ( I think a 1975) with a tan or light brown vinyl top. The car in the video looked like it was loaded, with a lot of luxury features (Including the 8 track player.. LOL.) it was alsp loaded under the hood.. with a lot of emission controls. If the low compression V8 wasn't bad enough the additional emission controls they had back then didn't help. About the only good thing those cars had going for them was their quiet ride.

And the 8 track still works!!! She's a beauty although why Pontiac would put a giant clock in the dash instead of a tach makes you scratch your head I mean who cares what time it is when you're cruising in a machine like this
@williamflack57673 жыл бұрын
I had a 76 Grand LeMans. Same dash as the Grand Prix. You could get the tach we're the clock is. If you got the tach, they placed a small clock in front of the console. My car had the factory AM-FM 8 track. A/C , Adjusting steering wheel, Rally wheels and gauges. 350 2 barrel. No power windows. Loved that car. Should have kept it. Pontiac, made the best looking car's.
