I custom ordered my 1977 Grand Prix SJ with the Hurst Hatch option (T-Tops). In the tinted glass of the top, it had the Hurst emblem, and they were installed by Hurst Industries in Brighton Michigan. I drove that car for three years and loved it!

My uncle Jerry had one like this and it brings back fond memories of me cruising in it as a kid.

I was 18 in my girlfriend's parents had a new one in teal blue and third/quarter (?) white vinyl top. I had a 74 Z28 personally but that was such a nice Grand Prix. Very luxurious to me at my age at the time and for most cars that sporty with a mix of Elegance. 💥👍

Had the base 77 grand prix as company car. 301 V8, vinyl black bench seats, manual windows and seat, am radio, ordered the F40 suspension which was just HD shocks. It did have white wall tires and base hubcaps. Manual mirror driver's side. I remember turning the air cleaner lid upside down to have it sound cool. My alternative was the Catalina sedan. Lol

You made the right pick.

Absolutely. The Catalinas were plain Jane sedans. Black wall tires too

I had a 73 GP in 78 & a special order 83 in 83. GM need to do a special remake of these classics. Bring back a special GP, Eagle Trans Am and the GTO & I'm in.

Just yesterday I was thinking about all the great Pontiac's you guys have had this year and the variety, and I thought to meself the only Poncho's ya haven't had so far this year is a GP or a Catalina and here we are a beautiful '77 GP ( maybe not one of the faster years but definitely one of me favourites), now how about that Cat...hope you's get one in soon mate...
@CoyoteClassics3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jason. We have had a lot of great Pontiacs over the years and this 77 GP is one of my favorites. It also just so happens that we have 1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible with a factory Tri Power. We will have a video of that car in the coming weeks.

The 1973-1977 General Motors Colonnade coupes were already breathtakingly beautiful to begin with, but there is just SOMETHING about a Grand Prix or Monte Carlo from this generation that does things to me that would make me violate KZbin's Community Standards/Terms of Service if I were to post them here!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the one I got to drive when I was around 17 it had swivel seats that turn to the side to get out, it looked almost exactly like that one and I believe it was the same year
@joeshark80002 жыл бұрын
Sharky🦈 Reply to walcoman. The car with swivel seats was a Monte Carlo in those years the Grand Prix did not have.

My stepfather had one that was the SG with the gold paint I love it to death pockets console I underrated the hell out of it I wish I could have had it. Had 301 model with the push button air conditioner that little blue button and the crazy gas milage like 25 to the gallon floor it, the slow s a snails Peter. Surprisingly it would do a hundred and still good gas mileage. I don't know who made the gear in the axle gear but it had to been the smallest that ever came out.

My late grandma had one like it back in the day and my first car was a 73 Grand prix with the 400. Tons of torque in those big block motors. Too bad this one wasn't priced so high. I know it's nice, but still an old car.

A lot more durable with the base/clear. Original paint was probably shot after just five years because of federal mandates to lacquer paints back then.
@grand73am2 жыл бұрын
Original paint on a 77 was acrylic enamel, not lacquer. 77 was the first year GM went to enamel. However, even the old lacquer can last much longer than 5 years. I have a 75 Lemans Sport Coupe, still with its original lacquer paint and looking good. Depends on how it was cared for.

These car were 5k forever,then about 20yrs ago that all changed. I like it but to me its worth no more than low 20s. That 400motor was not a selling pt. Poor hp & gas mileage.
