Its a real shame that they demolished all those old buildings in the past few years and put up skyscrapers in their place... There was a lot of history in those places, but they're all destroyed now. its very similar to what happened to a large portion of chinese history around that time... its sad.

The Chinese government is concerned about any culture that reflects local identity, including language, customs, buildings even food. The same thing about old buildings also happened in Tibet. China has been an extremely centralized place for 2000 yrs.
