Both these cars are really nice. I have a 1976 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale myself, I love it

Good Lawd, girl! When my baby brother got out of law school in 1984, he got married, had a daughter, and bought a 1977 Delta 88 Royale. Many years later, I bought a 1979 88 Royale coupe. One owner, 53,000 miles, $1,500. We still talk about those cars. I can't tell you how many automobiles I've had, but I can tell you that '79 Olds was the only car I ever loved!

Thanks for sharing your memories and insight into these " new " full sized, GM cars. The bottom line of any car is the owner experience... Thank you for your experience, Tom.

Beautiful 1977 Delta 88. Brings back memories of when my late mom owned one. It was gifted to her as a Christmas present back in 88. It was red with a white vinyl top and beige interior. That car lasted up till around 98-99.

I'm glad this video brought back fond memories, Edgar. That was some Christmas present!!! Thanks for sharing your memories with us.

Nice cars. Wish you could make a driving video about the cars
@carshowreporter Жыл бұрын
That would be nice, but this was coverage of the Fall Carlisle auction. They may not look kindly on taking a test drive!!! To bad!!!!!!

I wonder what car rode better, the LeSabre or the Delta 88?
@carshowreporter Жыл бұрын
@@jonathanterrebonne Interesting, Jonathan!! I would suspect they are both the same, but, it would be a great subject for a blindfold drive test.... for the passenger, not the driver!!!

B body platform I think people are saying all cars in general appear the same Ford Toyota Buick Nissan Ect. Wich is true. GM was swapping engines back then but I've never heard of the Pontiac 301 in a Buick and Buick never made one maybe owner mistake

It is not unusual for an auction description to be wrong. The Allstate had a V6 listed as the powerplant! The " look alike " has been going on for many decades. Try to find your 1932 Ford in a parking lot full of early '30's and late '20's cars.... Today, one just looks for a white, gray or black SUV.... easy peezy!!!! 😂😆 Thanks for watching and commenting, Duayne.

I'll say one thing about US cars from the period , in the vast majority of cases they color keyed the headliner to the paint of the car, pretty well unheard of in other manufacturers. Undecided whether that was a good thing or a bad thing. Yellow, Green, Puce?...interesting complexion you have there Mable.

I am glad you found a plus in this interesting era of the American automobile, PT&DnC. " I've always wanted a color co=ordinated headliner, let's buy this car!! ".... Hummmmm....

@Pamela Hirschhorn My neighbor had a 75 (I think) Olds Delta 88 convertable, white 2 Dr, white top, I grew up as a teenager drooling over that beauty. I always thought I would have one someday but at the prices now, no way.
@carshowreporter Жыл бұрын
It was interesting, GM dropped the smaller and midsized convertibles and continued with the large cars. They were striking, though.....

huh my high school driver ed class used a 77 LeSabre, I thought at that time it wasn't as nice as my parents' 72 Delta 88, by 77 the distinctive nameplate styling was disappearing...ugh bean counters!

You had first hand experience of before and after the shrinkage in '77. Thanks for sharing your impressions, Briney. By the way, did you pass the test the first time???

@@carshowreporter yes I did pass but I took the test in my own 71 VW Beetle, which was a stick shift of course, the NJ DMW guy remarked I didn't buck or stall it once.
