Hi Erick, Nice work....I'm not even close to where you're at and it's been a long time. I'll be watching.

Thanks a lot Wes! I actually like it. Silly me

Easy way to tighten up those gauge pods would be a big glob of hot glue. The bigger the glob the better the job! LOL Any caulk, preferably silicone, or JB Weld steel stick would also work. Good idea to worry about it now. The possibility of squeaks down the road frightens me. If you wanted to go overboard, you could fab up some gussets made of plastic or metal.

Thanks Chris. I am going to reach out to them and see what they say. Some epoxy or something would work too. DEF don't want a rattle in my dash. I hate rattles.

That Dakota stuff is good, i was going to use their fan controller but not variable... the ProForm i got fired right up, seems amazing so far.

Glad to hear. I have to send the cluster back for RMA so they can fix the loose bits though.

hah well i thought the dakota stuff was good :) seems this stuff can be very flakey. I am building a pro touring 1970 GTO and I am using all stock 2004 GTO wiring and accessories, even the AC, All oem GM. Gm fans, entire dash out of a 2004 GTO, power seats etc, ill probably even use the power window motors.

I hope you don't spend as many hours as I did just staring into the abyss trying to sort through all the circuitry. LOL! It's amazing how many weird little twists and turns there are.

It has not been too bad. The Painless documentation is really good. Thanks Greg!

Steering column - can I suggest IDIDIT
@asicerik3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom. I went with Flaming River since they make a drop-in replacement. Ididit only has universal ones for 2nd gen.

What did you have for a steering column in it before, factory? Was it a tilt? I would like a tilt for my car, but I think they are getting hard to find a good used factory unit. Great job on the car!
@asicerik3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't remember, I tossed it years ago. I ordered a new Flaming River tilt column. It arrives today. Yay! Camaro Central has rebuilt units which are a few hundred less than a new unit.

Hey Erick, just curious as to what starter you are able to use with the LS3-t56 set up?

Hi Griffin - I went with this one. I have not started it yet, but it went in fine :) www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-829200

Hey man, i have a question that Dakota Digital hasnt been answering on Instagram. Hopefully you can help me out? Anyways, im trying to find out of the system will function property if the smaller gauges were left unplugged? I am building a custom - and the spot for my gauges doesn't have enough room for the smaller gauges included in their 6-gauge Universal kit. Only enough room for the larger tach and Speedo with the tft screens My thinking is that I can display the fuel level, oil pressure, h20 temp and volts in one of the small tft screens (to make up for not using the actual gauges). Im just curious if that will work at all? Wish I had a systen here in front of me to try it myself! Well thanks for any help or advice!! Peace!
@asicerik3 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry to hear that. I would use their tech support instead of Instagram. However for my kit, they show a picture on page 3 of the manual with those 4 fields (oil, water, fuel, volts) so it seems that it would work. www.dakotadigital.com/pdf/HDX_manual_main.pdf Did you look at this kit? www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1076/category_id=69/mode=prod/prd1076.htm It is just the two big gauges.

How long did it take to get your Dakota gauges and was the painless wiring easy
@asicerik2 жыл бұрын
I ordered them before the supply problems really hit. They came right away. I think I ordered them from Summit. The Painless wiring was about as easy as it could be. Everything is labeled, the instructions are clear and just about everything has the proper connectors on there ready to go.
