I have one of these kits, and I feel there are some things they do not address here. You will likely need to drill the spring perch for the larger center pin bolt. Also, these springs should be manufactured longer eye to eye. Look at the shackle angle once the lift springs are installed. I run 5 inch shackles to help but this kit poses a big risk for shackle inversion running stock shackles. You do get what you pay for, but I believe some very minor changes would make this kit even better.

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at purchasing one of these for mine and was checking out installation videos to find caveats like what you shared.

I have the same kit and had the same issues. The spring length is too short both front and back. I also run longer front shackles to avoid inversion. I replaced the shocks with Bilstein for a significant increase in ride quality. Highly recommended. Drop pitman arm is a great add that helps with bump steer. Doing it all over, I'd try the superlift. On the plus side RC's customer service is great. Very friendly and helpful.

Are those the original soft break lines? The fronts look like they are pulled a little too tight for comfort. I realize there is no weight on it but if it is used for serious off roading the axle could twist away from the frame on one side and yank it free.

Those aren't stock u-bolt plates at 6:42? That's weird because my 1977 Scout has the same exact thing on the passenger side front.

Did this RC 4" Lift install require any drive line work? I have a 1978 Scout II. Thanks!

What size tires are on the scout? Trying to get a tired to 4 inch lift ratio. Want to see how I’m gonna pull it off with a 4 inch lift

I've done it. 4" lift will fit 33s - until you get into rough terrain and the tires start rubbing.

Did you have to cut and turn the front axle for correct castor/camber? Stock axle, right? Otherwise from my experience, the truck seems to walk like a dog, and makes for an unpleasant ride.

You better put that 4° wedge on the front axle or you'll be bouncing down the road and out of control with wheel toe all out of spec

ruined that beautiful Scout II with that trash lift, should've went with the SKYJACKER!

Front skyjacker leafs for a 78' scout 2 won't even bolt up to the stock locations. Skyjacker says you have to lower the vehicles full weight to get the bolt in. WRONG!! RC is only haly inch longer eye to eye. Why can't anyone make a 4" lift leaf with the proper eye spacing?

I had a 4" Rough Country lift for my Scout II. It was terrible. Sorry RC. It rode like a tank. Every pebble or crack in the road felt like hitting a boulder. Ran it for about ten years before removing it and buying a Tough Country 4" lift, which rode MUCH better. I still have that TC lift, but unfortunately Tough Country went out of business, so if I ever need to mess with my suspension again, I'll just go back to stock springs and do an axle flip, which gets you about 6" of lift. Sadly, RC and Skyjacker are the only two games left in town making lift springs for the Scout II, which is odd considering their current popularity. Skyjacker makes a better product, but they'll proselytize to you when you buy their products. No thanks to that.

Just look at how crappy the new replacement springs are. The older ones have better retainers and are rhe correct length. You can clearly see the shackle angle goes from good to total crap when you put on the new replacements. I'm convinced your manufacturering process for the Scout II springs is incorrect. I just don't understand why you keep making such crap.
