Little 3/8" ratchet handles, would be perfect for the rear window cranks. You could use them in 180゚ movements, & the handle would be reversible

For the pillar trim/vent, have a look for vacuum metalizing. It’s a process for chroming plastic parts so there might be somewhere local that can refinish those parts. I had some old plastic BBS center nuts done years ago and it looked great.

You might want to look at some of the US 60s and 70s car window vent cranks. They very are stubby and assuming the interface is roughly the same (clip attachment) then you might find a quick and easy solution to the rear window space issues.
@speedacademydave
@speedacademydave Жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris. I did have a look around online at hotrod window cranks and there are some nice stubby ones out there that would probably fit, just not sure if the spline count and spline diameter will be the same on them as on the Celica. We might just modify the stock ones so that we know they'll fit. Or use vice grips LOL.

I had the same issue with a roll bar and rear window crank handle. I have 3 solutions. 1) convert to power. 2) I kept the stock handle in the glove box or center console and used it in 1/2 to 3/4 turns to lower it and placed a rubber cap over the stud to make it look better when not in use. The third permanent solution was a 64-66 thunderbird vent window crank handle that was only about 2 inches (5cm) long.

Putting the rear window in was hard to watch. I was like " I'm so glad it's not me. I'm so glad a camera isn't rolling when I work on my SC300". I had a '77 Celica GT, loved it. The rear windows would work loose, no matter how much tweaking I did to them. Connie could get away with fixed rear windows. Leave all the heavy regulator hardware completely out, shove the glass up tight in the new channel, and some how block it up tight.

Being a technician, Silicone Spray will be your best friend for anything rubber. Window channels, installing a new seal it slides in like butter and dries. Radiator, heater core hoses, exhaust hangers. Slides on and dries. I’ve seen people use products like PB Blaster and that’s petroleum based and will degrade rubber over time after contact. SILICONE SPRAY. Even lubricating the window run channels if your window sticks or chatters. It will save you from having to replace a regulator.
