When the series 3 Capri was introduced in mid 1978 it was officially identified as Capri 2 by Ford. The V5 for this gold 3.0 Ghia series 3 will likeky state Capri 2.. The steering wheel is correct for this age Ghia Capri. But 30 odd thousand miles .... very unlikely. The wear on the heater control says otherwise. Nice condition for a 78 car though.

Agree, gold really suits the Capri. At launch events, Ford had all the Ghia’s in Oyster Gold, my Ghia is Oyster Gold too w/o vinyl roof

Lovely...looks like the speedo has been changed at some point, got a mk2 Capri unit in there instead. You can tell as the font is different from the rev counter. Another tell tale sign is the units are shown in odd numbers, ie 10-30-50 etc. Mk3 Capris should have even numbers increments like 20-40-60 etc.

It's the tacho that doesn't look original. All the Mk2's I've seen, including the Mk2 3000GT I had, are calibrated 1000 - 7000, not 10 - 70 and have a small clockwise rotation symbol with "min" below it.

1 or 2 of the Wheel Arches look like they have been filled. Other than that, beauty. Needs a Sharp Stereo Radio Cassette that someone would likely have fitted to this at the time but they are as rare as rocking horse doo-doo these days.

As someone else commented, it's a MK3. Colour is Solar Gold, think the vinyl roof colour is Tobacco.

As it’s a ‘78, it’s Oyster Gold. Solar Gold was after late ‘79.

I have a real soft spot for Capris. My first car was a 1975 Mk2 3000GT back in 1978. I really wanted a Mk1 3000 GXL but went with the Mk2 after looking at a couple of Mk1 rust buckets. I'd take one of these any day over a massively over priced/overrated Mk1/2 Escort!👍👍

In great condition, Oyster Gold really suits Capri’s, more so Ghia’s. All the instruments apart from the rev counter which is a MK3 item, are from a MK2 which tbh spoils the whole dash. , the boot light is missing & for the mileage the heater fascia looks really worn. Apart from the vinyl roof, it’s identical to mine!

+1, I'd forgot about the headlights. My Mk2 GT had square lights. I always liked the four round lights on the Mk 1 GXL.

Wrong, early Ghia’s up to 1981 had the 2-spoke leather steering wheel.
