that looks like the correct battery due to having the same style on my 79 na50, the only time they changed was after 1980 due to having signals and later other models had the CDI electronic ignition system.

Yeah no signals. I think it might be a grounding issue.

@@moonmopeds if it’s an ignition ground issue you might want to consider checking the black wires due to those going towards the ignition side, any other ground such as body grounds or engine grounds check for continuity on all of the green wires as far as I know they all represent grounds. Good luck with it.

looks like a smart ass rode the bike without a battery for starters and blew all of the lights and possibly the headlight too. you might want to consider getting the correct wiring diagram and redo all of the wires one by one. on those honda bikes some of the grounds are bridged with each other, and I'm sure you already know that all of the green wires are grounds, i noticed that these bikes have two main grounds, one on the engine by the intake and the other on the frame in the rear of the bike. good luck getting her running please keep us updated on it, i have a 79 express2 and someone has done some hacking on some of my wires and I'm in the process of working out the bugs and resealing the engine completely. thanks. and i forgot to mention that those bikes came with a 10 amp fuse from the factory.

Yah I didn’t want to do a complete tear down but that looks like what I’m going to have to do. Thanks for the fuse heads up

Can you leave a link for the correct coil and rectifier please. I've got a 1980 Express 2 na50. I've got fuel, air but no spark. Think it's the coil because the new one I bought doesn't have the condenser on it. I'm stumped. Also maybe a link for a rectifier please. I'm not convinced the original carb is going to work but I cant even get the thing to fire. Cleaned carb, new plug, new coil (think that's the problem or maybe the kill switch). Also dumb question but what wires under the seat go to the battery? Red from rectifier to the positive and then what? Weird wiring going on here on mine. Can't understand why I need a battery, mines the "kick the crank peddle, hit the left brake and release to start". I'm used to working on 4 wheelers. Any links, knowledge is greatly appreciated.

First for some parts. treatland.tv is good. A full owners manual www.jax184.com/projects/Express/Honda%20Shop%20Manual%20for%20NC50-NA50.pdf Got battery through Honda dealer and the rectifier on eBay. I hope that helps.

Did you ever get the machine running? Your posts are two years old and I am trying to start as you did now.

How are you making out with the Honda? Hope it’s running and riding.

Are you 100% that it is the RIGHT battery? That had differences throughout models
