Battery handling is easy to remember: Removing the battery is a subtraction: Disconnect minus (-) first. Installing the battery is an addition: Connect plus (+) first. Otherwise, you might bridge the frame and the positive terminal with your screwdriver while loosening/tightening the positive battery terminal, branding your favorite screwdriver with the mark of shame… or burn your whole bike down.

I inherited my father in laws CL200. The motor siezed 30 years ago. Over those past 30 years several people have partially dismantled it in an attempt to fix it. This video will help with the wiring anyway. Thanks

You are an excellent teacher, you break everything down in such and easy-to-digest manner that even a beginner who hasn’t done much motorcycle work before can understand. Thank you for making this video, and for educating me so well.

You have a way of making it sound so easy . When it comes to wires in h/l bucket all ground wires are fed to the multiple wire connectors including the 2 attached to the bolts .my guages are brown/white and green .join the b/w to b/w . And green to green . Any green . Thanks

Glad your pointing out to folks the necessities of checking all these terminal connections in relation to ground. Many of these connections impact the overall running trim of these systems that rely heavily on that wire being there.

Thanks for info here, pal! I just got a 60s Yamaha YSD2, and it has two ground wires connected to the frame. I’ve only hooked up one to the negative terminal, but wondering if I should hook Up both? I appreciate the help!

Question: if negative is grounded then why doesn't the battery discharge when we put our bike on the stand so that the earth takes all the charge since the actual flow of electrons is from negative to the positive.

Hey there Brenden, Was wondering if you had any advice for me. Ive had battery issues for awhile now on a 2019 honda CB1000R, and just an example of the most recent issue - Battery died while I was out after i parked at restaurant. I picked up a new batter from auto store installed it and drove home. once home i connected battery to a battery tender. I did not ride the bike again for a few months and it remained on the tender the entire time. when i tried to start it today it showed voltage around 12.8ish but could not fully turn over the engine. ive had this same issue for awhile now. im several new batteries in :(. Any advice?

I have a 1966 Honda S90, the past owner has the battery wired up with a positive ground. I plan on changing to a negative ground when I need a new battery. Has anyone encountered this and will I need to change any existing electrical components? Help

Electricity is so much easier to understand and explain if you can visualize the flow of electrons.
