The big wreck at about 13:40 proved to be a VERY expensive one for D.K. Ulrich, because when NASCAR inspected Ulrich's car after the race, the wreck wound up exposing a nitrous oxide bottle, resulting in him and his team being suspended the rest of the 1978 season.
