Lou Holtz played Alabama in the late 70's. He said he could not tell the dif between the 1st team and the 3rd team because they were all great.

Lou Holtz did a great job at Arkansas. I really enjoyed the years he was coach. That's a huge compliment to Bama coming from another great coach like Holtz.

Sometimes I wish it were possible to take these films and update them to HD…I think it would be wild to see these games in their crystal clear live format so that they wouldn’t look so old. Thanks for uploading!

Alabama felt that they'd sewed up the 1977 National Championship with this decisive victory, but that distinction fell to Notre Dame. Fortunately for Tide fans, 1978 and 1979 would be championship seasons--the last back to back titles until 2011 and 2012.

Their only loss in '77 was at Nebraska, and that was a very close game. They beat USC at Los Angeles and clobbered OSU in this bowl. ND put on a huge push at season's end and was the best team at the end. But 'Bama had the best season overall.

@brianarbenz7206 notre dame knocked off no1 Texas, they jumped alabama in the final poll , notre dame went from 5th to number1, everybody thought bama would go to number1 , they were no#2 when they slaughter the buck eyes 35-6 , they would had won 3 national championships in a row

It's a shame the Big Ten for so many years didn't allow teams other than its champion play in bowl games. They thankfully changed their minds a few years before that and the Sugar Bowl was one of the first to benefit.

Unlike one year later, Woody Hayes wasn't fired after this game, so he could consider it a win for that reason.

Bear's team beat up on Woody Hayes team . Old Woody did not last long as a Coach after this season when he tried to punch a Clemson player as OSU was again outplayed in a Bowl Game.

@@Jleed989 Yea losing 35-6 sure shows OSU wasn't in game except being on field throwing interceptions or missed tackles . Game was over from Bama's second score cause Woody & his Goose were cooked .

Ohio State would have finished about 5th in the SEC conference that year.

Just another game Ohio State should not have been playing. Ohio State's record against the SEC (without Texas A M) is abymsmal. Alabama has owned them , Georgia is undefeated against them, even South Carolina has beaten them multiple times. Woody Hayes was a prick. Bear may have been , but Alabama beats Ohio State every time except once.

Ohio state record is 23-14-3 in all time SEC wins, only lost twice to Georgia which is by two different coaches in two different generations. South Carolina is fucking atrocious and can’t beat LSU nor Alabama themselves as well as Georgia so yeah be quite 😂😂😂 and SC had no championships nor Heisman winners not even close to being Competitive in their own conference to date Ohio State would trash SC and can beat Alabama and they almost won in the semifinals against the bulldogs stop speaking as if they’ve been dominant on us it’s not even at least 20 games in these series have fun watching teams kill each other with Texas and Oklahoma joining Ohio State will be in the playoffs most years like they always are can’t believe you’re talking shit on a man who’s passed away from this earth and can’t defend himself your pitiful 5 titles and still one of the top teams in our conference remember when Alabama got good because they recruited black athletes 😂😂😂 the sec was never that good know your history
@DjvidMorgan

Also 1997-2006 Alabama was a fucking joke until Saban got there and trundled the program around we had already won bigger bowl games and had Heisman winners by that time stop speaking on old shit 😂😂😂 OHIO 6-0 already not 5-1 hoping they don’t lose in the SEC Championship
