Jets Seahawks Patriots Falcons Giants Lions Buccaneers Miami Dolphins should all go.back.to their 1980 s. Uniforms
@madcapper64 жыл бұрын
Splitting hairs here but those aren't the exact uniforms the Seahawks used through most of the '80s. Two subtle but significant differences. They moved the jersey number up from the sleeves to the shoulders I think in '82 or '83 and they went to white cleats right around the same time. Back in '79, they were one of only two teams in the league that wore black cleats, going back to their expansion year. The only other team with black cleats were the Vikings while the entire rest of the league wore white cleats.

Honestly the whole league excepting the Cowboys(but tone down the green home pants to more blue again)Raiders Packers Chiefs 49ers and Bears needs to go back to their older looks. Get rid of the Texans identity go back to the Oilers brand. Jacksonville has never been able to figure out how to utilize Teal Black and Gold. Steal the USFLs Bulls uniforms and name and you got that problem solved forever. Same with the Panthers. Use the USFL teams name and colors. Get rid of the Ravens and use the USFL Stars colors and identity. And get rid of the Titans and use the USFL Generals colors and identity and make Trump the owner again.

We had excellent linebackers back then. Beeson, Gaines, Butler, and Jackson were all very good! Back in those days the Seahawks never sucked, but they just weren't that good. Not until Chuck Knox arrived at least. GROUND CHUCK!! I went to high school with Sam McCullum, but 4 years behind him. His team's won state championships in both football and basketball.

The only times KOMO didn't tape delay MNF and show the game live is whenever the Seahawks were playing, so chances are this game aired live in Seattle. Any non-Seahawks MNF game would be tape delayed. This was a practice KOMO (and sister station KATU in Portland, Oregon) ceased beginning with the 1996 season.

I remember as a 24 yr old watching this game with my father in Las Vegas, where he was living at that time. He wanted to bet and asked who I liked, and I said Seattle, which he promptly bet straight up (covered easily), then he wanted even more action so he bet a two team parlay, playing Seattle laying the points, and over for the total. It didn't go over-one more td by either team would have done the trick. Good memories though.

Seattle's current navy, lime, and silver grey colors, just makes me sick to my stomach. Even with the super bowl appearances. I would really and have to be frank about this, bring back the '70s retro Bright English Royal Blue, Cascade Silver, and Apple Kelly Green vintage sweet colors, and bring back the 1978 New York Jets, Apple Kelly Green, and Creamy Vanilla White jerseys, including the green helmets (post joe namath era-and soon to be New York Sack Exchange era) too. Today's Jets are too dark (Cascade Forest Pine Green). Thanks 😎🇺🇸🍹🏈

It must have truly sucked being a Jets fan during the 1970s, because they didn't have even one winning season for that entire decade. The were the New Orlean Saints of the AFC.
@DNSKansas4 жыл бұрын
The Jets did go .500 four times, three more than the (S)aints. The Giants were just as pathetic as the Jets, although the NYG went 9-5 in '70 and 8-6 in '72
@smitskee4 жыл бұрын
It was especially pathetic when Weeb Ewbank was still there. As a GM, he was cheap and stupid. Hiring semi-pro players off the street. They get John Riggins in the draft, and instead of building around him, they still prioritize wounded Joe Namath, which they did for fan interest. Ironically, Joe is gone after 1976, the emphasis becomes the running game, and John Riggins is no longer there. Props to the New Orlean Saints, because as pathetic as they were for years, under Coach Sean Payton, they've created a winning environment that the New York Jets have never had.

Like most of the comments on here about seeing these two teams that both had great looking uniforms, I have to add how different today's uniforms, players and the game itself are from what we grew up watching and playing. One thing I find strange is that today's game uniforms seem to use as little material as possible, with no sleeves, and many player's pants not reaching their knees, (let alone using pads) while they wear practice "shorts" that flap around down to mid calf, and big enough for two guys to wear at the same time. If that's style, I'm glad I don't have any.

This was on Monday, not Thursday. They talked about a Thursday game later in the week, New England at Miami. Howard Cosell didn't work that game because he had boxing on Friday night, so Fran Tarkenton was with Don Meredith. Since Meredith worked a reduced schedule in that era, he did not work this Monday night game in Seattle.

Richard Todd who never met a middle linebacker he didn't like
@smitskee4 жыл бұрын
Richard threw the ball at Alabama, but not in any pro-set type of offense. He was a good football player, a good athlete, but no doubt, he was an NFL draft project. Inconsistent, was always the word to describe him, and it was true. I don't think he ever mastered reading pass coverage, and I always thought he did better with plays where the ball had to come out quick. Slants, hitches, quick outs. Five step drop stuff. I always said, when a game started, if Richard hit some good passes early, he was going to be ok. If he was off target, and missing big plays, it was most likely going to be a long day for the Jets. In his defense, he played on some shitty Jet teams.
