Congratulations George on 2 years since the start of your time with Alex - he sure treats you well with love, care, new parts and the occasional major hugs from Alex and the Kennedys - your appearances at shows a testament to your honest condition; you return this love with mostly grumble free daily service supporting Alex's transportation needs in a unique and comfortable manner - you deserve all of the congratulations! Congratulations to Alex for keeping George in such great shape and a massive thank you for sharing your highlights and detailed repairs with your KZbin community :-)

Great to see the Allegro back on the channel, I'd get any body corrosion done before it spreads too far though Alex especially the doors.

Good call! Yes I intend on having some localised repairs done rather than a full resto.

Congratulations George and congratulations Alex! George looks great after his long sleep and I think he wears his scars well. All part of his history and character. 100% Allegros are great first classics and a joy to work on as I've found out myself!

Wow! Mad to think its been 2 years already! George is an immaculate example. Its crazy to think that its 40 years old and only been on the road for about 4 years haha. But I think the fact it stayed in a barn for so long has definitely saved it in a way. Credit to you for keeping this fab car on the road. Heres to more fantastic adventures in George!😎👍

Hi Alex. Good video. Bought back memories, not all good ones sorry to say. In the 70s I had 3 new Allegros. First a 1250cc like years. It used so much oil! Then a 1500cc which was a great car. Then a 1750 gt. The worst of the lot, drank oil, engine rebuilt under warranty after a few months, no better. At this time BL was going through big problems, labour Relations, Quality etc. Anyway, good to see your car and what a fine job you have done!

Some great videos that are a massive help. I have your almost twin living in Wiltshire - a few months younger from Aug 1979, the exact same colour & spec bar the fog lights, and mine is an auto. I bought it for a laugh 20 years ago, turned out it only had 22k miles on it and was in great condition - currently on 28k miles as some extended periods of storage due to moves. Goes by the name of the Brown Bomber. Just about to do a braking system overhaul due to a sinking pedal and hard pull to one side!!! [managed to get brand new front discs from Italy] new windscreen also needed and find a cure a clonking at the front that has developed.. Will try and post a video of the process! Keep on allegroing.

Nice to see this video, I can't wait to start using mine when I can. I am planning to use it on a daily basis, but I'm not sure whether to just use it when the weather is OK as I can't afford welding.

Fairly new to the channel so forgive the fact I haven't watched all the past videos on George - so unless it's covered in there I can let you know the clock was an optional extra from new on this spec. I once owned a similar car - same colour Russet Brown - all be it 4 door - 'FTU2T' - sadly long gone. Keep him for forever👍

@@AllThingsAlex When I had mine you could still find them on regular scrap yards, and being a 'youth' I wanted to improve. So I salvaged a clock and retro fitted it - together with a sports steering wheel from a 1750 Equipe which was leather and chunky 🤣🤣1987 all this was - good times

Nice solid looking car , its good you managed to get it back on the road. I fancy an Allegro my self an would prefer the 1275. My brother had a 1500 or 1750 about 30 years ago and it always seemed a nice car : )

Would you consider fitting electronic ignition, to improve starting and general running? Are the instruments from a later S3 Allegro?
@AllThingsAlex
@AllThingsAlex Жыл бұрын
No the instruments are correct for a series two. Nothings been changed. Dont get on with electronic ignition. Had two previous set ups fail on me without any warning. Put me off ever having it again.

This car will still be going long after all these modern cars are sitting idly due to def filter issues programmed to fail ..plus Electric vehicles that will be switched off by the Government if you do something they don't like ..
