Nice upgrade here. The original recording was in pretty good shape, but was very dark. Did the norm with Topaz to upscale, denoise, and sharpen, then used Resolve to raise the Gain and Gamma values to brighten things up. You can see before/after screenshots here -- imgbox.com/g/eAst1f3lcu -- my thanks to romelovesdan for providing the DVD files used for this project

Thanks Dave for this upgrade here, love these late 70s and early 80s NFL on NBC games. I loved both teams uniforms as this was the season where the Broncos were wearing orange pants with the white jerseys for the road uniforms, but they wore the home orange uniforms because Falcons did used to wear their away uniforms for their home openers due to the hot weather in Atlanta in early-to-mid September. I loved these Falcons uniforms as this was the 2nd season they used these when they replaced the white pants with the silver pants. They need to bring this uniform back as an update for the Falcons in the future.

An interesting AFC vs NFC matchup broadcast by NBC with both teams coming off playoff appearances. I do like the Falcons 1978-1989 white uniforms, but when I first saw the highlights back then, I was shocked to see The Orange Crush jerseys in a road game at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium.

The Falcons like many teams in the south would wear white at home in the early part of the season. That kinda went out the window after the Falcons moved to the Georgia Dome, although Dan Reeves would have the Falcons still wear white for 1 home game each season. There was a game not that long ago that the Falcons wore white at home.

This was the era where NBC would broadcast AFC games & CBS(LATER FOX) would broadcast NFC games. NBC it was AFC(the road team) vs NFC(the home team) & CBS(Also Fox) it was the NFC(As the road team) vs AFC(the home team). Today's NFL it doesn't really matter

@@alfonsogreen2722 You are correct, Sir. sadly, there not as many preserved NBC games from the 1970's and early 80's compared to available preserved CBS broadcasts from that era.

Don Criqui and Bob Trumpy would team up later in the 80's, if I remember correctly. He just stopped doing Notre Dame football on the radio a few years ago.

@@Deadfoot-Dan When the 1979 season started Criqui who came to NBC that year was paired with Trumpy for the first two weeks of the season. After Jim Simpson left NBC for ESPN, Criqui replaced Simpson on the network’s number 2 announce team with Brodie. They would work together until 1982 season. In 1983 Criqui was paired with different analysts. Jim Turner, Ahmad Rashad, Gene Washington, as well as filling in for Dick Enberg for two games with Merlin Olsen as well as one game with Brodie. Criqui and Bob Trumpy were reunited in 1984 and in 1985 they became NBC’s number 2 announce team until 1988 when they slipped to number 3. In 1989 Criqui was paired with Ahmad Rashad, then in 1990, Criqui and Trumpy were reunited for two seasons. Criqui worked with Paul Maguire for the 1992 season and from 1993 to 1996 he worked with Beasley Reece. For NBC’s last season of NFL coverage at that time Criqui was paired with former Saints and Colts coach Jim Mora. Criqui returned to CBS in 1998 when they won back the NFL and again was paired with Beasley Reece.

@@harrymann5523 Criqui and Trumpy also called Monday Night games in the mid-'80s when NBC Radio had those rights. Also, for many years, Beasley Reece was a sports anchor on KYW-TV (Channel 3) in Philadelphia.

I was the source of this game into the hobby many years ago. I have the Beta tape master from Jack Dolbin who made his last ever catch in this game around the 1 hour 45 minute mark. I sent Jack several game copies that he did not have and he sent me this Beta master in return.

Super Bowl XXXIII was the worst looking Super Bowl ever. If the Falcons and Broncos wore these uniforms, it would have been one of the best looking.

I miss the old games where end of regulation in a tie ended as a tie. The NFL should bring back end of regulation ties. Only in the playoffs it would make sense for Overtime. I would love to see standings like 8-5-3. The original 16 games for the regular season and 4 games for pre-season is the most balanced: 8 games at Home; 8 games Away. Also no coin toss: Away teams always receive first, which will also make it balanced to avoid luck of the coin. 🏈
