Adjust the upper left to get your pinion angle and tighten upper right til the car launches strait. Need to raise the rear of the upper control arm to cure wheel hop with link bars that bolt to the rear end in the upper bushings. Air shocks are bad for wheel hop also. Look up Duck Miller racing and buy his Manual I think it’s called “Get a GRIP” has everything you need to know about setting up suspensions Good Stuff

Brother I wish I lived near you, there's so much i could learn from you.

Haha, thanks man. Honestly I’m learning everyday and feel like I don’t know a damn thing sometimes haha! there are so many amazing resources online to feed off of though. I didn’t know a thing about pinion angle until I started researching wheel hop and everything I did in this video came from reading about it/pondering/and problem solving. I appreciate the comment, i haven’t posted anything in awhile and this stuff encourages me to keep going. Have a few vids in the works, hopefully I can keep providing good content!

I've also burned them out many times, probably the fastest way

My car will wheel hop if I'm rolling and do a burnout. But never does when it's at a complete stop.

Mine did the exact same thing moving or from a stop before all this and it doesn’t anymore either way, very pumped. The saginaw 4spd on the other hand… Not so much haha

How did you fix the gbody shuffle?
@JSWeir3 жыл бұрын
Randall Montejano it still does the shuffle actually BUT since I put in the coilovers (later vid) it’s actually barely doing it at all. The rear end is way more planted now and with all the suspension changes working together it seems to not shuffle “as much” haha 🤷♂️

Ooh noice! I asked because I saw yours didn't twist as mine does.....mines an 83 and recently installed a rear sway bar but it reduced slightly reduce the body twist as I floor it. It did however help when going around corners xD
@JSWeir3 жыл бұрын
Randall Montejano mine has had a sway bar since I got it and it definitely helps from what I’ve seen/felt. The other thing I. Noticed was when I did the trailing arms, switching from the stock stamped steel ones to tubular and the better bushings etc, REALLY changed the ride quality and stiffened the rear up. After the coilovers I was headed home at one pointed and purposely broke the rear end free in a corner I’m used to and it was night and day, way more predictable/controllable. Actually surprised the hell out of me what a difference it made

@@JSWeir I think the upgraded trailing arms and sway bars help a lot with the launch...especially when your throwing more power at the elco......I'll eventually go with that route, I wanted the elco as a workhorse but now I want it as a toy lmao

Should've just used a big socket.... Unless maybe you don't have any that big
@JSWeir3 жыл бұрын
Had a few big enough ones but the bolt is bigger than half inch haha

Lets race you elco against mine and the winner gets the other guys elco sound good

How about 7 8 G-Body Malibu with open control trail arms adjustable how do I know when the rear end straight in the car the left sides closer to that outer fender load than the right side how do I adjust that
@JSWeir3 жыл бұрын
@@ronnieyoung7510 this can be done if you have adjustable upper trailing arms. You can loosen one trailing arm, and tighten the other an equal amount- eg: one full turn loose on one, one full turn tight on the other - and that will maintain your pinion angle, but it will move the rear end to one side.

Also, make sure you are using the frame as a point of reference for centering the diff. The bodies on these old girls can be slightly shifted on the frame itself from worn body mounts, which could be part of the difference you see also.

My 79 el Camino doesn’t wheel hop, but great video!

Nice! Some do and some don't seems to be the concensus, especially once you throw more power at them, gearing, and TRACTION haha!
