Dealers wood not order hi po engines in light duty trucks only gasr on option group oor gvw. We wanted to order 390 cid in 68 f100 but dealer Er wanted auto. Hd cooling ps pb but we dug in and call and letter to zone officelet us order way we wanted

Pop had a ‘79 f150 paid 4990.00 when new with a 300 inline six. Three on the tree. Same color as this one.

I had a 79 F150 built for me ,302, Midnight Black , red interior , white spoke steel wheels , 4 spd OD , limited slip axle and sport steering wheel . I think I paid 8200. with tax . It was built in Oakville Ont.

My Dad and I went in to Lounsbury Ford in Coquille Oregon 1978 and ordered a 79 F-150. Dad chose the 300 inline six with four speed and dual tanks, deluxe bench seat in Medium Chestnut Poly (Brown). It’s Funny that Steve mentions putting a camper in the bed of one of these. We did and drove the thing from Oregon to Alaska and back in 1982 after I graduated from college. We had to stop in Canada and have a radiator shop put a bigger radiator in it because that camper was really too big of a job for the six. The truck lasted up until five years ago when I gave it to a friend of mine to part out. It wasn’t salable because Dad loved to salmon fish and it spent a lot of time in and around salt water. But it still ran fine.

Yes, with the VIN for the win: F10 for F100 2WD pickup, G for 302 V8 with two-barrel, U for Louisville, KY assembly and the rest is the production sequence which lines up with a 1979 model year truck. F101 means 2WD F100 pickup, 13 means 2.75 rear axle, Ford produced, non-locking, J is for a front axle with power steering, 23 is the Memphis, TN sales district, T is Candy Apple Red exterior paint, J should be a three speed Ford produced automatic transmission. The Louisville, KY plant opened in 1913 and although it has moved around a bit, it still operates today. The current plant is on Fern Valley Road and opened up in 1955.

Great video! I bought a new 79 4x4 300 six cylinder in September of 79 remember it like it was yesterday, it had the 80 mph speedometer, I have a 79 Bronco that has a 100 mph speedometer wonder what's the difference

That's not a Mopar. I am surprised you know anything about a Ford. Okay, I am being facetious, but your constantly going on and on about Mopars makes me think you and Mark Worman, of GYC should get together with Tony from Philly should get together. It would be fun to see a test of obscure Mopar stuff with you three. Funny thing is, we are all about the same age, I am turning 58 this month.
