Love those old Detroit’s. My dad has a brigadier with a straight piped 6-71. Absolutely love those old trucks!

Right on. Always the sound hey? Sometimes I wonder about what's so good about a Harley Davidson, but then suddenly I realize I understand completely how a certain engine sounds like music! Hoping to capture some more footage of shifting as well as exploring things like what happens when both are in reverse. Stay tuned and thanks for your comment.

You know you're getting old when you remember that model as new. Good ol' Detroit's.
@lovesloudcars3 жыл бұрын
That's funny hey? Back then it was good enough with enough power. Nowadays you'd be hard pressed to find a qualified driver who'd stoop so low to drive it for a couple days - even if it was in good running order..

What a gem, those Detroit Engines will run on cow poop if you were in a pinch.👍✌️

Pretty much hey? I've never started it pulling it before, I expected a bit longer pull before it was running. Nothing like the sound of a Detroit hey? Hope you are doing well.

@@lovesloudcars I had no doubts about it "Not" starting, there is no difference in an electric starter motor, or pulling it while in gear. Those 671's are fantastic engines, I have a friend that has a 1947 Silverside GM Greyhound bus with a 671 in it, he just out a four valve head on the engine and it has a propane injection set up on it, pretty wild. He has his own channel and business repairing those detroit's "Bus Grease Monkey" is his channel name. As for Myself iam doing well And I thank you for asking, I wish you and your Family a great Holiday season, and I'll be poking around your channel again. Bye for now.🇺🇸✌️👍

@@ericdee6802 thanks Eric hope you have a great holiday season too. I subscribed to his channel a long time ago. I doubt there's anyone on the continent who knows much more than him about Detroit engines. I like his shorter videos. Meanwhile stay safe and God bless.

@@patd5146 me too. I've always loved the sound of a Detroit engine. There's some good British ones too. Like the Perkins. It's funny though that it seems like what's common here isn't there and visa versa. Loved the 2 years I lived in the UK. Was in the south west & south Wales. Always figured I'd like a Jag XJS.

Thanks! It's certainly not showroom quality anymore. My Dad bought it about 1989, so it's been around the family for a while. Though not as long as the 59 Chevy that I put the 353 Detroit engine into. I think Dad bought that truck about 1975 Thinking I'll make a video showing all my Detroit engines.

It's not bad after she warms up a bit but nothing like the sound of a Detroit engine hey? Did you see the videos I posted of the 59 Chevy pickup I put the Detroit engine in? I've got probably 10 Detroit engines, someday I'll make a video of the collection. Thanks for and your comment. Stay tuned for further nonsense and entertainment my friend.

You're preaching to the choir there! Nothing like the ridiculous concept of adding a device to cause higher price,higher fuel consumption, decreased power, higher maintenance costs and who knows what else, sowe can pretend it's better for the environment.... Ceiling.... fan... Best and worst joke I've heard all day. FYI: The vapor coming out of the exhaust on these old trucks is actually NOT smoke. It is atmospheric lubrication. You see, as an engine gets a little older it begins to realize that it would be easier to breathe if the air in the direct path of the exhaust was well lubricated. This is known throughout the land as a sign that that particular engine has done its fair share of work and understands what it takes to be able to still get the job done all these years later. Deee-troit. I could listen to that thing idle for a long looonnng time and not even get remotely close to sick of hearing it.....
@lovesloudcars4 жыл бұрын
I love the lubrication description, it made me laugh. Maybe I should get onto that "help you sleep " app thing and people could download it for sleeping or white noise & background music! Personally, I'd probably use it sometimes myself.

I was a bit surprised it fired up so quick. It's been parked for a few years I think, but I guess it always starts ok, I just usually use the battery & give it a sniff or starting fluid.

For sale par chance? She is a beauty and i love the sound of a Detroit. Good to see the skidder in action. Picked up a new starter and was changing it out but.....no go... that back stud is is a real nice spot to get at lol. Snap on starter wrench will be here Monday. Thanks for the vid!
@lovesloudcars4 жыл бұрын
I actually don't need it. ( hard part of being a collector/machine hoarder is selling stuff you might need 25 years from now). I could sell it yes if you are serious. It would need a bit of work to be a daily driver for sure, but I guess in reality, a couple months' worth of vehicle payments would fix up most of the big things. And CERTAINLY would not be dealing with DEF or electronic control modules... Skidder didn't get used all summer, but moving a few firewood logs the next couple weeks. Hopefully you have good luck with the starter.

No I don't think it is. I'm not sure the history and details around that name, although pretty every time see a GM with a Detroit it would be a Brigadier. I think Dad bought it from the second owner & it's one of several built for building oil leases up north.
