1979 Harley Davidson XLH 1000 - Day 1 - Primary Work - What's underneath?

This is a bucket list item for me. I'd love to get an old bike (or new wrecked bike) and bring it back to life. Working on my scout has really just made me want to work on bikes and keep learning.

Those tensioner are thin like that but what happened what I saw is the tensioner pad is supposed to fit in pockets in each side and the one side seems it broke off so it couldn't stay in place moved out maybe need a new chain, but there's a better style tensioner harley did that has a bigger pad.

You've got it right. I replaced the chain and switched to a Hayden Auto Tensioner. Works like a charm! Shifting is smooth.

That they do! I'm thinking about switching out the carb. The old Bendix is quite tricky to manage. Probably go with an S&S.

As soon as the clutch plates come in, I'm replacing the chain and installing the Hayden tensioner. I'm excited to get to the results!
