I own a 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car. It was transformed from a stock 70's dinosaur to a custom with character. Distinctive suicide/coach doors set her apart from many. Watch as I tell the story of how "Claudine" came to be.
As always, thanks for watching and supporting the channel, it's much appreciated. If you're here for the first time, be sure and like, subscribe and share. I appreciate that too!
Enjoy,....Skagg Out!

GORGEOUS! 1979 is my favorite of all Town Cars. It’s what I learned to drive on, taking it in and out of the garage. My parents purchased a brand new 1979 Lincoln Town Car, Dark Red, Red Interior and Dark Red Coach roof new on Halloween 1978. The salesman tried to get my parents to buy this god awful Wedgewood blue, and I vividly remember my Dad spotting the dark red on on the back row at Rivergate Lincoln-Mercury. Had the Turbine wheels that he wanted, illuminated entry and all the other features. We put so many miles on that car and it really became part of the family. We were blessed with her for almost 22 years. Dad was driving to work one night, and she started acting funny. He pulled over and somehow the old girl was on fire. She burned up with 322,000 miles on the odometer. We had only done a valve job on her at roughly 200,000. Ever see a family cry over a car loss? Lincolns are the standard. After that, Town Cars became our standard and we were blessed with a 1985, a 1989, a 1995 Signature and a 1998 Signature. I splurged in 1996 and purchased a 1989 Mark VII LSC, triple black. One of my best cars ever. I had it 17 years, sold it with 247,000 miles on it and never had to do any major work to it. They are solid, reliable cars and Lincoln really messed up in my opinion, dropping the TC from their lineup. Sorry for the ramble- I get excited when someone loves a Lincoln. Loved watching this video. Beautiful car! (You cannot turn a car with one finger anymore!). Lol

I Love this story!! I wish I had the means to have been able to keep my Dad's TC. Let's hope Lincoln starts doing more innovation like, (ahem) cadillac (lower case "c" on purpose) and stop with the rebadged Fords. The fit and finish on the new models are great though! ...and no, you can't turn with one finger anymore but they can parallel park for you!!

I agree with you. Lincoln should have kept the suicide doors. Your car looks great. I'm a Lincoln fan too. I had a 1963 Lincoln, burgundy with mauve two tone leather interior. It was so quiet. MPG was horrible but it was a head turner. The turning radius on the 63 was smaller than the 64/65 models, so it was easier to turn corners with.

Love the car. I had a 2001 town car. Black on grey. Livery edition. Bought it in 2011 with 60,000 miles, it was privately owned. Drove it to 260,000 until one foggy night a family of deer decide to hang out on Rt 95. They must of been "coachasidal", they never moved. Drove over one and another almost came through the windshield. I was doing 40 in a 65 which probably helped me walk away. Good luck with your car. Peace to you and your family.

Beautiful Lincoln you have, great job done on it. i had '67 Lincoln with those gangster doors back in the day. i wonder the time and difficulty on your '79 in making those back doors like that, looks way better that way. Would also look nice with 4" wide gangster whitewalls too.

I have drawn many 77 to 79 Town Cars with suicide doors, but your car is the first I have seen with actual suicide doors. What was the name of the shop that did your conversion and how much did it cost?

Complete with bodywork I would say it would range between 5k to 10k depending on your fabricator and how much you want him to do and if say you were willing to take steps to save on overall cost.
