Thank you for saving and restoring an old Volvo. The fuel injectioned B23 engine first appeared in the 1979 model year of 242 GT and the 1980 model year then new 244 GLT and 245 GLT (which replaced the 242 GT). For model year 1981, Volvo put the B23 into the lower priced GL line as well, but with a carburettor. (This applies to the Swedish market.)
