@@chaotic_fox7254 not so true.. when cold everything is cold, and a air filter box sucks hot air from the exhaust shielding on these engines. And when the engines haven't run yet, there is no hot air to suck. Only the slight difference in intake pressure from the cone air filter in comparison to an box will slightly effect the startup. The hot air intake what you are calling, this helps prevent en carburator and intake to freeze up because of the air moving so fast it freezes the venturi and eventually the intake manifold. The hot air intake in combination with heated intake manifold ( by hot engine coolant) prevent this from happening. Thats why you have a chocke, to enrichen the fuel/air mixture and prevent to much air to pass and this prevents the intake to freeze the first minutes. After that the coolant temp before the coolant thermostat increases quickly and warms up the intake, also after running for 2 minutes the exhaust manifold heats up quickly and the airbox can now suck hot air. michael jagger It had an exhaust. On this video its only a straight pipe. The muffler is taken off.
