1980 Tied Cottage led all the way in the 1980 Gold Cup and beat Master Smudge by eight lengths but, because of contaminated feed, he failed the drugs test he was later disqualified.

Loved Tied cottage, I know rules are rules but he was far and away the best horse in the race, tragic

Won it on merit. The amount of 'banned' substance found in the post race test was so small, it wouldn't have made a mouse run faster. Was contaminated feed, that's all, so unlucky.
