Kind of a rare find these days. I would resist the temptation to hack it up and instead go the restoration route. with a few small internal mods and some minor tuning, that would run fairly well.
@bluegrassgarage3 жыл бұрын
I agree, definitely not one I’d hack up.

Know and love these cars like family. Draw through carb turbo in 79-80. Ford aborted the mission and came back with a port injection EFI non intercooled version for 83-84. Intercooler and larger injectors for the SVO. Same 83-84 set up used in the Merkur XR4TI and Thunderbird. Blah blah blah... Will stay tuned for the start up. If you can keep it as is please do. The carb turbo is vacuum leak nightmare (usually?). Best luck, nice find man !

Pretty cool! Id never seen a turbo model that wasn't a Cobra or Pace car. Wish I would have left the turbo 4 & 4 speed in mine lol

Hi I'm glad I saw this video I had a1979 four cylinder turbo it was white and black trimmed. I loved that car wish I would have never traded it. That five speed was so much fun. No it wasn't fast as far as it goes but off the line as long as I could shift fast enough and get every gear it was quick off the line. I loved that hatchback it was fun with a girlfriend well that's a different story there. Thank you for the memory I really miss that car and never found another one must have been rare.

Thanks for checking out the video, I ended up selling this and regretting it as it was a neat little odd car

This was my first car. Man it was so fun to drive . 4 speed on the floor is what made it so much fun I wrecked it twice rear ending cars because I drove a little to aggressive lol. I just slapped a bra on the front and poof front cap damage just disappeared!!! Mine was metal ice navy blue , but had a black hood. Aftermarket sunroof. When I got a new set of Cooper cobra radial GTs man I thought I was Mario Andretti hahaha. Man those were the days.

Now you can take an in-line 300 in.³ Ford engine Aline bore and balance and blueprint the entire engine step the cam shaft up a little cc the engine head which is also part of your blue printing and you can have an in-line six that were out run a V-8 motor. Also depending on your automatic transmission and the ring and pinion gear in the rear end. I recommend a 273 to one gear ratio.

1984 mustang also came out with a in-line six cylinder engine equipped with two category converters a great big one upper next to the exhaust manifold half gallon can for a gallon can after that you have the normal Cadillac converter built into the exhaust pipe after that you have a muffler after that you have a second dairy type muffler on that very back. The in-line engine six cylinder has the EGR valve made into the engine head remove that EGR valve and feel along the center portion where the EGR valve has two holes on both sides if the center looks like a crack the engine head is trash. Go find you a 1975 FORD Granada in line 6 cylinder engine and take the engine head if you can take the carburetor with you and the aluminum EGR valve bypass plate with the head. Have the engine had reworked have your in-line six cylinder engine out of your 1980 Ford mustang rebuilt put it all together put it back into the 1980 Mustang if you have all original. Make sure your body pan is not rusted out.
