As far as how you film, you should do what makes you feel the most comfortable. I have watched your channel for awhile now and have always enjoyed the way you showcase the glass without the other minuta. I also have a channel and when I'm not enjoying the filming process it shows in the final video. Do what makes you happy and that's all. 😸

Scott, I like when you only show and talk about the vintage things, instead of wasting video time on the rest. I watch you to be educated about that. I also watch because I enjoy your presentation, the community that has grown around yoyr channel, your beautiful home, and your lovely, entertaining, quirky personality. When I want to see other types of reseling, I do watch other channels to get my regular thrifting fix. Please stay just the way you are. ❤

Enjoyed this video, especially with you going through some of your books on glass. Now, I AM seeing those MARIGOLD BOWLS all over the place, too! Locally to me, that is. Because I like to cook for myself, suddenly I’m getting into the old vintage Corning Ware with the blue cornflowers. From the freezer, to the oven, to the microwave, to the broiler and to the stovetop! I’m 63 now, and I didn’t realize how great that stuff truly is!

I have absolutely no problem with you rambling on about anything. I’m usually listening in my car or while I work on projects anyway. The random and not overly edited nature of your videos is refreshing and fun I believe iMovie has background noise reduction capabilities if it bothers you that much.

Scott, you had showed some Porcelier coffee/teapots on another video and I started looking for one. I found a drip-a-lator but they wanted way too much for it. I found a Porcelier teapot with flying ducks on it and got it. Though it is not a drip-a-lator I am so happy with it. It reminds me of my grandparents. Thanks so much for taking us along with you. The purple bowl with the black stripes would be great for Halloween treats. The color is perfect and the stripes looks like a spider web.

The mahogany candlesticks are exceptionally beautiful, and I would love to own them, but unless you own something comparable, I think they need to stay in your home. They work so well with your decoration, tying in with the mahogany pedestal etc. I know you need to make a living, but I love seeing your home evolve. You don't need to show us a long stream of your aisle searches, but a I think a bit gives us an idea of what you have to do to find the good stuff. You're a good video editor, and can achieve a balance that works. And I love it when you insert music from your wonderfully eclectic library!

Scott, great items, per usual! I am a huge advocate for books! Yes, starting with an image search is OK, but don't stop there... Research is necessary, not only to educate yourself, but to also provide the correct info if you're planning on reselling the item... Also, I agree with using the term 'in the style of' if you are not certain of manufacturer/maker. Your decades of experience have given you a fine eye on what to pick up and what to leave behind whilst out thrifting/sourcing! Thank you for educating us, it's one of the primary reasons I love your channel! I love that single Deco creamer, I'd use it as a small vase!

Well…I can’t get out to the shops, so I enjoy the thrifting videos. Not so much the junky aisles, but the glass, tableware and lamps. But whatever you want to do is fine. Other channels I DON’T enjoy include the grabby hands ones, where folks shove things into their carts, just looking to make a buck. Or the ones where the narrator strikes a condescending tone, apparently aimed at kindergarteners. I find you comfortable, interesting and sometimes funny. So just do what you like.

Does eBay add a shipping cost to your item? Those primary color bowls are showing $79.00 shipping fee when you click on the item.
@oldcuriosityshop2652 ай бұрын
Ebay automatically adds the shipping cost for each individual person based on the distance between their zip code and mine.

How do you do calculated shipping on ebay? Do you have to wait until the item sells before you can list the shipping amount?
@oldcuriosityshop2652 ай бұрын
No. Each individual person see their own calculated shipping cost (calculated by Ebay NOT me) based on the distance between their zip code and mine. All I do is enter the size and weight of the box and Ebay does all of the rest.

Scott, I have a question about Iris and Herringbone. My depression glass books say that at some point after the marigold I&H was made, dishonest resellers would buy it in bulk, strip the iridescence off and sell them as antique crystal I&H. None of my glass books explain how a collector can tell the genuinely old crystal I&H from the stuff made much later that's been de-iridized. Can you provide more information?

I’ve never heard of anyone stripping off the iridescence from the iris and herringbone pattern. I’m not even sure that’s physically possible.
