His name is Ira Arenson. Funny enough, he marched in the 1st clip with Guardsmen and then soloed with Madison. I was fortune enough to have him as a mentor for my solo the follow year. He has a disease (can't recall it right now) which made him bald. Excellent player and man!

spinster21 - regardless of how old I looked, I assure you that I was 21. As a matter of fact, I had just turned 21 in late July so I was only two weeks away from having another year to march. I've never heard the comparison to Terry Bradshaw before but looking at the video, I suppose it is fair.

@@faredunferrari It's Kansas City...and all the clips are of finals, so that makes it 88 or 89....the music is from Star Wars (Yoda's theme, I think), so that makes it prelims in 88, since the 89 music was from E.T. and Empire of the Sun.

Micah Lall-Trail mellos are often called alto because that is the voicing of the horn.... yes, Mahoney played mello/alto.

ahh,no mellos are not called altos. They are called mellophones because that's what they are. There are alto horns which are similar in design but with a smaller bell and they are called altos.
