I bought one of these last week and I'm having issues pulling the flywheel off. Do you have any suggestions? Any special tools. I tried a pulley puller and that did not work.

You need the flywheel/stator removal tool. This tool can be found here: www.motorcycleid.com/1988-suzuki-fa50-engine-tools/

Tell me one thing when you switched to the 45mm piston That you got on treats, did you have to do anything to the original cylinder head?

Hi, I ‘m currently working on recommissioning one of these, a 1979 model, Question, are the exhausts available? And is the ignition system mechanical(points) or electronic?
@nastynatesscooters98965 жыл бұрын
William Cherrington yes you can find exhaust online but they expensive new. I have a used one but it’s don’t have cover .what you mean by the ignition?

You should've left the chicks in.

so did I miss it - no need to chamfer the ports a bit? Some are sticklers on that.

You need to realize I am new to rebuilding 2-stroke engines. You could fill a warehouse with what I do not know. I ended up having to pull the piston out and gapped the rings, as there was some slight scuffing going on.

I also need to install an expansion chamber exhaust as well. Like I said, this is a new concept to me.

I was debating to ask about the ring gap but I didn't want to come off like some know-it-all, you've should've done this or that, type. But yeah, I've learned the hard way on the ring gap. They say the bottom ring gap should be a tiny bit wider than the top ring gap. You probably already know this but break in is critical - I try to follow all of this www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Kit_break_in_guide . The only other issue which probably won't come up since you've rebuilt the whole enchilada - I've used the stock cylinder head on a bigger cylinder/piston and, most likely due to slop in the crank somewhere, the piston actually extended just beyond the cylinder at the top of its stroke. As you can imagine - jackhammer effect on the piston. Perhaps I needed a bigger base gasket, head gasket or both. Anyhow if you want to be safe, run the docile head gasket first and then switch to the performance one after you are sure. And of course, you'll get to change the main jet with your bigger top end and performance exhaust (I didn't get that wrong did I, I think you went with a bigger top end). Anyhow, I've enjoyed this video series and learned a lot even if you are new to rebuilding 2 strokes. thanks!

Unfortunately, a proper break-in ain't gonna happen. I don't have the facility to do this in. I'm breaking so many condo bylaws as it is... the noise and excessive revving of an engine will only make it worse. Thanks for the advice!
