At last Dave, a car that you can relax in and just use for pleasure drives without too much back breaking work to put it on the road! ( None of us are young anymore so I’m speaking from experience!) best wishes to you Elin.

@@philtucker1224 I’ve been enjoying it Phil. I do need to get some spares tucked away for it though…it worries me that I don’t have a few spare parts to pack in the trunk…I don’t even have a spare ignition rotor for example…

I think that the "7s" will come into their own in time and will be appreciated for their own sake, kinda like the Mustang II was to the "classic mustangs" Like my sainted grandfather said unto me as a wee lad, "Blessed be the bastard stepchildren as they too will inherit the pavement and backroads of our future, bringing joy and peace and candy to all, and to all a good ride." Jerry 😎👍

That's the Oldsmobile 215 V8 debuted In the 1961 F85 and available in a turbo charged version. Sold to Rover after Oldsmobile gave up on it.

Yes it was probably one of the best decisions Rover ever made and since then that engine became the main go-to power unit for all of the sports/GT small volume car production companies across the whole of the U.K.

Lovely V8 burble. Did the engine start out life as a 3.5 and get upgraded or is it an engine swap?

4.6 L V8? Wow that's not like the typical little Italian sub 3L V8's.

Because “Italian” / race V8s have flat plane crankshafts that are smoother, better balanced and much revvier. “American” style V8s are much lumpier with uneven firing order…. they suit lower revs and larger capacities….

Great engines but I have never been a fan of the TR7 platform. It was a cheap effort of trying to continue the great TR mark but the move away from the TR6 was one of the reasons Leyland cars went spiralling downhill.
@cheftush3 ай бұрын
@@MrDazvere I wast a fan of the TR7/8 either up until about 10 years ago. Since then, they’ve really grown on me. In particular, I think the TR8’s are really under appreciated and under valued…
@johnmoruzzi72362 ай бұрын
Not true really…. the TR6 did well to string out the old chassis and pushrod engines for as long as it did, thanks largely to solid continuing US sales. It had to end at the same time as the big Triumph 2000/2500 saloons and estates. BL had to rationalise philosophies and technology so the TR7 combined elements of the Triumph Dolomite and Rover SD1 3500/2300/2500, plus the 70s wedge styling adopted for the Austin / Morris Princess and Italian exotics like the X-19, Pantera… It was supposed to also replace the MGB and be more appealing to e.g. women who bought those cars….
