Thanks, I hurts more to see it just sitting there not being used

These are fantastic vehicles. I've been slowly building a long door pickup with the front half of an 84 rabbit. Used to read the rusty rabbit long ago.

Wow! That brings back memories. Well, I'm still here. Much older, and a lot more sober, but still here. I always wanted to get a long door pickup, but my welding skills are not up to snuff. Great to hear from a fan from back in the 2000 era!!

I've had a few. My last truck was also an 80 model, and my first car was an 80 2door c model. Black with the lipstick red interior. Sweet car!

Very cool. I'm with you, Eric. What's the sense of owning and staring at a car/truck? Yes, its a classic but you, better than anyone, can keep it in good repair (pardon the pun). If driving it makes you happy-drive it! 😊

Bingo! I love this truck, but if be doing it no favors to have it collecting dust on the garage. I drove it nearly every day, and use it for what it was made for.

I miss small pickups like these. Modern trucks are way too big
@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs8 ай бұрын
Agree 1000%. I'd love to see a return to these compact work trucks. manufactures know there is a high demand for them as well, but profit margins are MUCH higher for the "Bro" trucks with 100K worth of needless options and a 4 foot bed.

45 years ago a bunch of German engineers were like ...man we are VW but the Americans and the Aussies like trucks. Maybe we could make something they would buy and use. Turns out they were nearly 1/2 century ahead in thinking. Those guys put a bunch of time, work, and effort making an affordable and cheap to own small practical truck. Leaving it parked in a garage or only taking it to car shows does the truck a disservice, and it dishonors the work those people put into making it.

I agree , vintage vehicles and tools need to be taken care of and used , that’s what they were made for . Work it !

I'm a purist. The CIS fuel injection in these 1980 models was the peak of engineering. No computer, no sensors, just 100% mechanical injection. I wouldn't consider tossing it for a few extra HP.
