Another song I haven't heard in ages. With a better understanding of music I can appreciate this song a lot more now than when I was in my early teens. It was almost like hearing the song for the first time. Very creative song and a fun listen. Loved the tap dance, you kinda knew that had to be in the song considering all the musical tropes present from that era. What was also cool was the synthy voicing for the word "Super-Duper". I beginning to see your "FUN" theme for this week songs. Hopefully Come on Eileen is in the mix for this week.
@playitagainsueКүн бұрын
@JeromeDukes Yes you have to have tap dancing in a song like this for sure. Great point on the Super-duper...nice effect. Sorry Jason, no Come on Eileen this week. It is a fabulous one hit wonder but I tried to think of ones we don't hear of as often now. That one still gets a lot of airplay on the oldies stations 🤩🩵

@@playitagainsue Well you are batting 100%, every song you have uploaded this week has been lost in time for me and you don't hear em today.

i don’t consider Come on Eileen a one hit wonder Before C.o.E the Dexys hit #1 with sing called Geno Brass section instead of Fiddles complete different image Love the Dexys My favorite is Dance Stance

@@jessem470 Cool I'll give Dance Stance and Geno a listen. Come on Eileen is the only song I know of theirs.

I heard in a interview that Taco actually got to talk with the man who wrote the song. Taco said he was a real hoot to talk too! I think the man lived to be 101 years old.

This song always reminds me of the Frankenstein monster dancing to this song with Gene Wilder in "Young Frankenstein". Hilarious movie. Always enjoy your fun facts.

Didn't mind this one, but I can't say it was much more than radio background music to me .. I thought that I had heard an older version of this without the reference to actor Gary Cooper in the lyrics .. So I checked, and the original lyrics are totally different in the section where Gary is later mentioned .. The version with him in it was a revised one from 1946.

@wayne_twentyfive Very interesting, Wayne. I had no idea the lyrics were so vastly different prior to 1946. I will have to look up the original lyrics 😊💜

Another hit from mainland Europe , Holland this time Cant help think of the great scene from Mel Brooks movie Young Frankenstein ( I wonder what Irving thought of that ) Maybe it the robotic nature of performance but this put me in mind of a few Steampunk bands definitely a forerunner Have you ever heard of Steam Powered Giraffe ? If not check out their song Honeybee Or some of their great covers like Rhainna’s Diamonds Well worth a visit Have a great day
@playitagainsue2 күн бұрын
@jessem470 Hey Jesse, I have not heard of that band or song but I will check it out. Great comparison to steampunk though. His movements and even outfit and general look of everything else in the video does have a neo-victorian feel which steampunk seems to model itself..great catch on that one. You have a great day too, Jesse 🤩💙
