I had the secret to starting the big bore Huskies back in the day, it helps if you’re 6’-7” tall. Darn I miss my old Huskies especially my 1984 WR500. I never owned a bad one.

Looks like the 82 Husqvarna’s. If memory serves me, the 81s had a black cylinder and head. Also, I thought the stickers were a little different and 81 from 82. Of course, this is all dependent on my memory. Doctor gave me pills for that if I could just remember where I put them. No matter 81 or 82. Great looking bike you have.

I have had one of these, with Ohlin shocks. I really miss the sound and feel, although I turned to Windsurfing after a nasty crash (figured I couldn't hurt myself on the water; so wrong). Btw. Starting the thing ... if got wrong and it kicked back, man it would hurt. I never managed a start sitting on it.

Awesome looking Bike, I don't see that many restored European MX Bikes. This also brings up a nagging question I have had for Decades - Why didn't Honda call the 1981 CR450, a CR430 since it had a 431cc Engine.

I like the way you pronounce the name as it should be: Husk varna Not the way I've heard everyone else say: huska varna ever since I had my 1975 400. Not sure how the Swedes actually pronounce it, but everyone in my riding circle pronounce it: hoosk varna. It just sounds better like that to me. Also, if anyone cares, Husqvarna was a musket maker in1689 and their logo is a rifle barrel surrounding the "H"with the sights on top.

I had a 1980 CR390 I could never keep the clutch adjusted , that left kick start was bitch I would bump start it also . Lol

The older-style engine had a bad starter. The 81+ primary-kick motor is pretty nice to start; they work well as long as the bike is reasonably in tune. Personally, I prefer a left-side kick on these tall bikes. Never liked having a tall bike between my legs while I'm trying to kick it. But I've been riding left-kick bikes since I was 14 so it's what I'm used to.
