See that 'tache in the green ORS sweatshirt at 1' 24"? That's me that is! One of my most memorable jobs when I was at BBC Manchester!

My favourite band of the 80's. Shame they're miming but that was standard for most TV shows in 80's. RIP Mick Karn. Rest in Paradise 🙏🏼 🌈 🕉

I had a couple of shows I worked on regularly at the BBC at that time - ORS was one and Old Grey Whistle Test the other. I can't say for sure whether they mimed on this ORS appearance or not but on the OGWT show I did they definitely played live albeit with a tape machine playing in part of the backing. It was I think Ghosts they did and then another one from Tin Drum - Cantonese Boy I think. Great times!
@AlansVideoCollection4 ай бұрын
@martinjf467 check my post of that performance
@martinjf4674 ай бұрын
@@AlansVideoCollection no mate, it wasn't that OGWT appearance for the simple reason there's an audience and the studio shoots didn't do that, at least not at Oxford Road where I worked. Perhaps I'm confusing two or more performances. But I do recall them playing "live" albeit with tape playback for noodly sound effect parts. Cheers!
@martinjf4674 ай бұрын
@@AlansVideoCollection Further to my other comment, this is one of the OGWT road shows I think. They took it out of the studios (ours was one and Pebble Mill another) from time to time and did full concerts, usually with a hook up to one of the BBC radio channels for a stereo "simul-cast. And other times it was the normal OGWT format. But a big audience in the studio didn't happen, just a few interested peeps standing round the edge in the shadows. I was a regular shadow when I wasn't working on a broadcast. Great times when going to work was a joy!
@AlansVideoCollection4 ай бұрын
@martinjf467 it stays Oxford Roadshow at the end credits. I have the entire episode. Not sure why you think it is OGWT.

Pure Japan Gold but as Vinny9708 said in an earlier comment unfortunately this unique band i loved were all but finished . I still play and collect all things Japan related to this day but often wondered just what else they would have given us if they hadn't have split . Rain Tree Crow was just a taster of what else they could have come up with as a Band .
