1981 Scamp 16 | "It's like a time machine"

Howdy fellow adventurers...my name is Brenton...and I'm a vintage fiberglass camper addict. ;) I can't help it, I want to own them all. Fortunately, I neither have the storage or the funds, so I hold them in my hands for a little while, then like a bird I set them free (hopefully with a few more bucks in my pocket. ;)

Yes, it is good shape for the year. Gel coat wax will make it look new and a new door latch.

It's crazy what any fiberglass trailer is selling for. Often times it's more what they sold for when new. Main reason, most often there has been no roof leaks, which is the main reason why 99% of other brand trailers are trash within 10 years.

when I was gonna do mine a few years ago, I was running into the locks not being open in the winter time. will this be an issue?definately the shanty boat adventures was the best. loved it.

Reminds me of the shell gas station bathroom where my old friend used to sleep on the floor back in the early 70's. Yea, he kinda had some problems.... Couple times he came over and smelled like a gas station bathroom. My mom called the cops on him and had him escorted off our front lawn. Too bad he didn't have this nice little scamp but my mom called him a tramp. Oh well... Folks please stay away from drugs and alcohol or you too may be writing a story like this one.

That's a cute camper. Where did the name come from? Perhaps some drunk guy expressing interest in camping? Maybe he was trying to say, "Let's camp" and it came out "Scamp." My Dad (not drunk) used to say "Sqweet" for "Let's go eat." Perhaps part of that Michigan language of stringing words together into one like "Secretaryastate." Imagine driving the one that "didn't age well" through my neck of the woods. It would come out looking like Bonnie and Clyde's car - the aftermath.
