RIP Those are the names of the people who actually DIED on that war incident. This is your channel and you can do whatever you want, including this "reenactemnts" but how about a little of respect when doing it? You can do better than this... Those "hahahas" at the end are really annoying. Keep in mind that DCS has a really big argentinian community and this kind of things are still something to be take with extreme care. If you want to recreate events like this you should watch other youtube channels like : "The flight channel". He always pay respects to all the people who died. Regards...

I listened to the first-hand account of this incident, from one of the SHar pilots. I had mixed feelings about the use of the cannon after the missile strike. There was no way that the Herc could survive an AIM-9L hit on the wing and indeed, the wing separated soon after sealing its fate. I wondered whether the cannon was literally overkill.

@@ayeidoucareau5014 War certainly is hell, but the Argentines must’ve know what they were sending their pilots into. The British had publicly declared a “Total Exclusion Zone” around the islands (basically a blockade) and publicly warned that anything inside that zone would be attacked without warning. They had even warned that Argentine forces outside the zone might be attacked if they posed a threat. A large transport like the Hercules could’ve been carrying a lot of ammunition, heavy weapons or even reinforcements to the Argentine troops on the islands. Naturally the British commanders would not want that getting through to be used against their troops on the ground. Though just like the Argentine attacks on the British fleet, there’s absolutely no doubting the courage of the Argentine pilots knowingly flying into that.

British: We are the best of the NATO, nothing can't sink our ships Argentinians: Exocet goes boom
3 жыл бұрын
@@ayeidoucareau5014 In his Book "Sea Harrier over the Falklands" "Sharky" Ward goes into a bit more detail on this incident. He says they were on CAP for some time before this contact poped up and didnt have much fuel left (Their time on station was quiete short anyways because of the long transit to and from the carrier group), which is why they immediatly had tp attack the C130. If he had more fuel, he would have gone alongside and had tried to persuade them to abandon "ship" and not shoot them down outride. Their is a video somewhere on youtube with an Interview of him some time ago where he also talks to the son of one of the Pilots of the C130. Unfortunatly the C130 wehre prime targets, because they where the only lifeline of the Argentinian forces on the Falklands. The sea route had effectively been closed by the nuclear attack submarines of the british. So everything had to be flown in. Including for example the land based Exocet launcher which was used to hit HMS Glamorgen from near Stanley.

It wasn’t HMS Minerva’s radar that picked it up originally, it was EW, the information was then passed to the ops room, it was then detected on Redcar and passed to Cap. The only reason I know this is correct, I picked up the Ci30 and passed it to my EWD.

The C-130 wasn't doing a supply mission, it was doing an Maritime Radar Recce mission using its nose radar. that's why the ESM picked it up. I was involved with an intercept down there in 1988 where the ESM operator on a Type 21 thought he picked up a C-130 which correlated with a something orbiting at 2000 feet. The Radar on West Falkland could also see something at around 2000ft and the Phantoms and tanker from MPA were scrambled. The Phantom also got a pick up on his radar that looked like an airborne target, until he over flew it and found it was a group of polish fishing trawlers!!! Damm Anaprop!!!

This recreation is different from what I had read. I knew that the Hercules plane received a missile hit (from behind) between the two left wing engines and caused a fire. The C-130 was still flying, so Ward moved closer and fired his cannons at it. Then the Hercules fell into the water in a spiral to the left and crashed into the sea. Three Argentine officers and four non-commissioned officers lost their lives. RIP all brave men who fought on both sides on this war.

It was an E model C-130, not an H model. I could not see the Argentinians using H models in 1982. Shit we were still flying alot of E models in the USAF. I was flying E models through the early 1990s And in 1985/86, most, if not all of the training squadrons I flew with at Little Rock AFB(Herky U) were E models. Back then, the South American countries were buying surplus U.S. and European military aircraft. The H model was still too new to have been released as a surplus sale. I am surprised it was even an E model.

War (or 'limited armed conflict' if you prefer) is brutal. Callous is not the same and is an odd choice of word. Logistics and reconnaissance are legitimate targets. Remember who started that war. You can shoot a sidewinder to an unarmed C-130. It´s a war and it´s a totally legit war target. But knocking it down with cannon rounds when the Hercules is already badly damaged, preventing the crew the possibility of, at least, trying to save their lives with a splashdown or trying to reach the shore, is pretty close to a war crime. Like shooting against a parachute. That "Sharkey" Ward guy is not a gentleman nor a hero.
@bonidle726
@bonidle726 3 жыл бұрын
“Sharkey” Ward did his job and did it well. War is a nasty business and the business of the Harrier in engaging an enemy supply aircraft was to stop Argentinian troops being resupplied, which it did. If you allow it reach the shore you have failed in your mission and its supplies would be recovered and enable enemy troops to continue killing your troops. That’s the whole point of engaging it. It’s not a game and there are no innocent parties involved. The comparison between shooting people in parachutes is ludicrous. So no, it’s not a war crime, it’s war, it’s highly unpleasant, which is what makes war a thing to be avoided.
@llanero9177
@llanero9177 3 жыл бұрын
@@bonidle726 Ward did his job when he shot the sidewinder to the C-130 destroying at least one of the engines and damaging the structure of the wing. The war was over for that aircraft, even if for some miracle could have landed somewhere. When he shot the rounds of cannon to the wounded aircraft, he was just killing people that weren't a menace for him or others, and were trying to save their own lives. It's war? Yes. But that kind of behavior is the difference between being despised by Argentinian pilots, like happens with that Ward guy, or being respected by the Argentinian pilots, like other Harrier pilots like Dave Morgan, for example, are. If you know Spanish, look for the videos in YT of Pablo "Cruz" Carballo, por example, talking about that "Sharkey" guy.
@passantNL
@passantNL 3 жыл бұрын
You are wrong. If that aircraft is carrying valuable supplies to enemy troops, or could be used to do that in the immediate future, then it is a legitimate target no matter how badly damaged it is. BTW, gentlemen and heroes don't win wars. You win wars by doing unpleasant things to other people.
@mikeedwards350
@mikeedwards350 3 жыл бұрын
Worth noting that "shooting against a parachute" isn't necessarily a war crime. If an enemy ejects over your own territory, they are technically a PoW but over their own territory, they're still a combatant and fair game by international law. That pilot might be back in a plane bombing you tomorrow.
@bonidle726
@bonidle726 3 жыл бұрын
I get the impression that your objections are actually based upon the fact that your sympathies lie with Argentina with regards to this conflict. As you may have guessed I am British and I was actually serving in HM Forces at the time of this unpleasantness. Thankfully I did not have to actively partake. So my sympathies were with a sovereign British population illegally invaded and subjugated by a brutal fascist dictatorship who seriously misjudged the response they thought they would get. There are no innocent parties flying enemy military aircraft in a war zone, on either side. You know what the risks and consequences are. The purpose of engaging an enemy aircraft is to destroy it therefore making it unable to complete its task then or in the future, not to just give it a good scare. If you think otherwise then you don’t understand war. If it had been an RAF C-130, or indeed Avro Vulcan, intercepted by an Argentinian fighter the result would have been the same. If you don’t to accept combat losses then that’s another good reason not to go to war.

Total agree with Overspeed. DCS is just a game, but war isn't a game at all. In case that you choose to recreate an historical event, specially a recent one, you should be much more respectful with people who died and their families, specially when they likely still live. No matter if they were from Buenos Aires or London. That was a recent event, people that died there had family who could see your video. What would you feel if you were the orphan of one of those men and you heard those "hahahas" at the end? I've followed you videos for years, but this one didn't like me at all. Of course is your channel, and you can publish whatever you want, but you can do it much better. Please take a few time to think about it. I think you could have recreated that event in a much more respectful way. I'm not Argentinian, but i think you have not to be Argentinian to feel a few empathy and respect for those soldiers, as i also feel it for british ones. Thankyou @Overspeed to take your time to collect the names of those people: Rubén Héctor Martel, Carlos Eduardo Krause, Hugo César Meisner, Miguel Ángel Cardone , Carlos Domingo Cantezano, Julio Jesús Lastra and Manuel Alberto Albelos. RIP

Curious at some of the outrage on here? I don’t see these protests when we see Middle Eastern scenarios, or the Gulf war(s), or numerous other conflicts both long ago and far more recent, being recreated. Let’s be realistic and honest: DCS a combat flight simulator in which we simulate hideous acts of violence constantly, but that’s the point. To deny that is to be rather hypocritical. If you are “offended” by that fact then I would suggest a simulator such as MSFS of X-Plane (both excellent in their own right) would be more appropriate to your sensitivities.
@llanero9177
@llanero9177 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you would see protests if that kind of videos were seen by middle eastern people. And nobody is complaining about recreating air battles, but about recreating air battles in a disrespectful way. You would have the same kind of reaction if you recreate with giggles a real plane accident in MSFS or X-Planes. But there a YT channels that recreate terrible real life accidents with respect and accuracy, and nobody complains.

Its an unarmed naval reconaissance plane - looking for RN ships and giving targeting information to the strike aircraft - completely legitimate target. Towards the end they tried using the C130s as bombers too dropping bombs out the back - one hit one of the RFA tankers (bounced off)

During the war the Argentines used c130 to resupply the islands, they weren't carrying toilet paper, every bomb and bullet delivered was aimed at a British serviceman. It flew in extra radars at one point to target the Harriers. Absolutely the C130 irrespective of its current mission was a legitimate target. If you kick a hornets nest expect to get stung, a lesson Argentinian learnt in 1982.

War, conflict.. these are semantics. 904 people lost their lives, 1965 people injured. UK lost 10 fixed-wing aircraft, 25 helicopters and 4 navy vessels. Argentina lost 11 ships and 132 aircraft. To put it into some perspective, years later, USA lost 3 buildings, 4 aircraft and went on a global 'war' on terror, invading multiple countries that is still ongoing and noone doubts that wasn't/isn't a war, even though they probably did it to themselves ✈️🙄😑🤡😷
