the true was that took off Pucaras and Aermacchis from Puerto Argentino at the same time... but the Macchi had to fly too fast for a very poor weather... almost 0 visibility.. Macchis returned home and the three Pucaras continue to the target. After they attacked british troop, one of them was shotted down, the pilot ejected, and a second couldn´t see the mountains because was flying too low and crashed... Tte. Gimenez lost his life..

In reality, L2A2 link ammo tracer doesn't burn until 100M from the barrel. So if you were aiming at the trace you be hitting 100M short of the target.

The Pucara is such a cool aircraft... I mean it looks like an old Metroliner aircraft that is armed up to go to war and handles a lot better as well. Closest you get to a wolf in sheeps clothing :D

Grump's view was not nearly as dark as Caps was. Not sure if that's the monitor, the settings in DCS or what. Or it's the contrast. Whatever the reason, I could almost pick out the troops on the ground. Anyways, great video. I envy your mission building skills. And your flying. In 3 months of DCS I have just got the basics under my fingertips. You guys not only have to fly dozens of aircraft, but fly them well. Keeping all them separate would be a herculean task. Hell, just bouncing from the Apache to the Huey I get the commands mixed up. Well done to all. Grump is a beast!

There was a Royal Marines Blowpipe troop somewhere around Goose Green (which shot down the Aermacchi), and I think the Paras had them too. They also brought one Pucara down with combined small arms fire, during the battle.

The soldier who fired that shot deserves a medal. The Blowpipe was notoriously difficult to shoot accurately.

Cap, now that you’ve got the F-35’s working (and a reasonable Meteor analog) I’d love to see an RN retaking the Falklands from a theoretical Argentine force. A couple of dozen JF-17’s based at Port Stanley, and some Mirage 2k’s with Exocets operating from Rio Grande, give them a couple of C-130’s to drink from and then let the pigeons loose!

There was a story going around when i was a kid about the Argentine pilots going after the warships instead of the landing craft during the initial British landings. I was wondering if that was true and if so, could you do a what if they did attack those landing craft instead of the protecting warships. Awesome vids man, I'm hooked.

Yes it is true and the GR pilots did the same recently. They said the same as the Argentine pilots. Running in low and fast the pilots had no time to identify and line up on small moving landing craft. So instead the attacked the obvious easy to see and stationary large ships.

Hmmm, sort of - Argentina did attack some landing craft, such as LCT F4 which they sank, and bombed the two large LSL’s Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram in June at Fitzroy, causing terrible casualties on Galahad as she hadn’t started unloading yet. If by “landing craft” you mean those small barges, well apart from F4 (which was in open water & isolated and they came across her by chance) they didn’t really try because landing barges are a bit poxy. What they needed to hit were the two amphibious assault ships, Fearless & Intrepid which were both pretty big and had internal docks that could be flooded allowing landing craft to sail in and load men and equipment. They’re the motherships to the barges. They were both filled with tonnes of supplies and (early on) thousands of men but neither got attacked. Other troop transports, like the requisitioned ships, cruise liner Canberra and ferry Norland also both carried thousands of men & tonnes of supplies and were in the anchorage for a good day or two but neither was attacked. Other requisitioned transports also came into the anchorage to offload supplies, but none were hit. The AAF went for the warships, not the assault ships or the transports, nor either the men and supply depots being constructed onshore (except once). To the British, in grim military arithmetic, as painful as it was and as much as they tried to avoid it they could still “afford” to lose a couple of warships - but to cripple the landing it was the transports, large assault ships and logistic depots that needed destroying and they didn’t attack them during the critical period.

The A-58 Pucaras is a very good aircraft and it's a good they didn't have A-10 Warthogs as by the time the "Black death" got to the battle it would have been all over. Speaking of the A-10 Warthog. Does anyone know anything about the new update the U.S.A.F is doing to the A-10? I watched a video showing the A-10 being outfitted with more bombs than before. The video is called "The Devastating New A-10 Bomb Truck Configuration" It increases the warthogs' capabilities substantially and I think we need this update to the A-10 platform in DCS.

Sounds right, GPMG’s we’re used extensively in the light anti aircraft role. Pilots from both sides recall ‘blankets’ of tracer fire coming towards them

Just think if this aircraft used old AIM-9B slaved the a Pucara and launched at landing ships with large heat signatures. This AAM might pack the right amount of HE, speed with ground and sea attack tactics. Slowing down the invasion. Small AAM without armour penetration could hurt these slow moving landing craft and landing ships.

The Pucara is a cool aircraft, gotta say. I think the Brits did have blow pipe missiles there. They certainly had an anti-tank rocket, I forget what it was called, that they improvised with and fired into the Argentinians trenches/bunkers. They proved effective in that role.

If and when the Falklands Campaign comes to an end, I think Cap and the boys should do a montage of some sort remembering the conflict. Do some sort of cinematic ending with their footage mixed with the real footage of missions they did. Play “Brothers in Arms” by Dire Straits over the video. The song was actually written during the conflict. I just think it would be kinda cool, but that’s just my opinion
