Amazing what turns up in barns / garages. I absolutely loved my Granada 2.8 Ghia X Estate in two tone Black and Royal Claret. These cars are worth their weight in gold. Comfortable to cruise in, a load lugger, the back could be turned into a double bed if one needed overnight accommodation. I really do miss mine. The rare metric size tyres were extremely expensive, that's if you could get hold of them. After 10yrs ownership I sold it to a guy who equally loved it and off to Bournemouth it went.

Thanks for the comment. It really makes me smile when cars bring back memories. We have a public footpath running through our farm and I'm often giving tours of our own cars to random strangers, who reminisce about their own memories of some of them.

I remember they were common for an allen key shaped piece in the motor that drives the oil pump I think but not sure that used to round off. Ppl would cut down an allen wrench to replace it as it was stronger and not round off at the end.
@UKBarnFinds Жыл бұрын
I’ve never owned one of these, but that sort of hack wouldn’t surprise me for a car of the 80’s 😀
@rogerb4436 Жыл бұрын
It actually worked better than the Fird factory replacement because the allen key was a stronger steel. My mate who had alot of Cortina's, Zehpers and my personal favourite Ford Capri said the if that part round off or snapped under load it wrecked the engine. Ohh FYI, my most favorite car from the 70s is the Volvo P1800, the Roger Moore car from the Saint TV Series. Thay are awesome.

We have since noticed that in 2007 and 2008 it was driven 4 miles each time for an MOT (I'm guessing the testing station was 2 miles away!).
