When Mercedes made beautiful cars, look at the lines of that car! It looks to be in good order too. The other one is also a time capsule. With cars of that era you often had a 'help' or 'driver' who would take you out for a picnic on a Sunday afternoon. He would also be responsible for the maintenance of the car and would have done all the checks before driving round to the front of the house ready for the family to climb it, different times then. So good that you have some photos to go with the cars, that makes all the difference for a prospective buyer. Thanks Claire and Elton for bringing us along for this barn extraction. 👍👍
@UKBarnFindsАй бұрын
The lines of the Mercedes were incredible. Even covered in dust, it looked amazing. Being a left hand drive, it makes you wonder if it will end up going abroad, maybe back to Germany. The Talbot-Darracq was incredible. Cars like that really do whisk you off to a different world in your imagination. I love the idea of a 'help'!

Both cars are truly wonderful and particularly interesting as they appear in original trim , the Merc. will do extremely well , far more than estimate , such a rare and elegant high quality car.Cecil Bendall was indeed very well known as an old car dealer from the 1950s and had some very rare cars himself., incuding a R-R Silver Ghost driven by Eric Sykes in 'Those Magificent Men ' ......

Unrest in Cyprus? That's putting it mildly. The early 60s were the days of the EOKA terrorists agitating for union with Greece. Archbishop Makarios and all that! National Servicemen served there, and British soldiers were killed. I had someone who worked for me in the 1990s who served there. Difficult times. Lucky that officer only had a brick!
