Nice bike and video, if you can find a quiet vacuum cleaner it will save that abrasive dust settling on your bikes and tools

Great to see you restore the CB 900F I had one in the 80's and it was a fantastic machine.

I just stumbled across your videos. Good stuff. I have an 82 CB900C. These are great running bikes. This may be something you know already, but the valve clearance is super critical on these, and the exhaust valve should be set to .0055" instead of whatever the manual says. Lots of these burn valves because the clearance is too tight. At least, this is the current thinking from people that have experience with these specific engines.

Thanks for watching Jesse !, I appreciate the information on the CB900F engine/valves, that will be useful to know as I get into it later down the road ! Cheers

YES! you're correct, I wondered when someone would spot that mistake. I forgot to take them out, could have ended in a flood of tears and bad language ! Thanks for watching and commenting !!

Hi Jim, yes it does seem much simpler than the VF1000R's I've done before too. I guess time will tell if this one is as simple as it seems. LOL

I'm dreading starting this on that VFR700 I bought. I have the same idea that I don't want to throw a bunch of money at it before I know that it runs. But I also don't want to take the carburetor off to even inspect it because I know all the rubber is just going to fall to bits... So you bringing up Billy's Outback has me thinking maybe I should just pull the carburetor to verify all the hard parts are there and then buy the kit. At the very least I can just sell a cleaned and rebuilt carburetor to someone else that needs it. Thanks for sharing all the different products you use. Oh, and I like that we've got a little animation intro now!

Hi Matt, yea I'm still debating if ill restore this one of not. I have 2 others to go first, so that gives me time to decide. Its complete, so thats a good thing. Dont really want to part it out, she does deserve to be restored I think. Billy's Carb parts have always served me very well, they are comprehensive, good quality and very very reasonably priced. Re the into animation, yea, im trying to get better at this youtube video thing, still learning what works and what doesnt, and trying to make it a bit more polished with the editing.

I have a 1982 CB 900F Super Sport, I bought it in 2015, I am starting the rebuild next year, but I am missing a lot of nuts and bolts. Where can I get original nuts and bolts?
@true-moto-resto
@true-moto-resto 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Errol, good question, depending on which fasteners you are missing there are a few options I guess. 1) Your Honda dealer may still be able to get nuts and bolts - if you check out the online parts fiche it will show you the Honda parts number and the costs and availability 2) Online suppliers like partszilla may have some new stuff, Boonstra parts and other online breakers often have used parts 3) Ebay - sometimes you'll find a grab bag of OEM fasteners from someone who has broken down a bike 4) Forum members - many online forums have some very helpful members that have multiple bikes (including pasts bikes) that are willing to sell you what you need 6) Buy a parts bike - while you may not find another CB900 for parts, other Honda's of the same year (or within a few years) share the same fasteners. If you know what you are missing you can get part numbers off a parts fiche and then go looking for other Hondas that share the majority of the parts you need. I will say that buying OEM will get expensive, so often you can get a used parts bike for less than it will cost you to buy just the nuts and bolts from the dealer ( I once paid $450 for a small bag of Suzuki fasteners from the dealer) I use this site for parts fiche info. partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/snowcity/showmodel/13/hondamc/40

An AMAZON cleaning tool. Please let us know how long you use it before it fails. 2-3 times a month it will wear out in 6 months. The warranty is 90 days. The #1 problem is the electronics failure, whether that is the timer, the transducers (vibrating action) or the heater it WILL fail. Review the reviews on any Amazon purchase BEFORE you buy. Vevor is one of the WORST. Outside of that commentary your video has some good tips. There is no replacement for NEW o-rings and seals. Re-using old ones is a high point of disappointment but if you like taking em off and on a lot then happy days are coming your way.

re the Ultrasonic Cleaner, I've had it for about 6 years, used it may be 40 - 50 times for all kinds of stuff. I didnt have any great expectations when I got it, it was cheap and honestly, if it fails tomorrow im still happy with what I got out of it. I know one of the main issues is the on off switch, so I dont even use that, I just plug/un plug it. Anyway if/when it fails, I find another one of some sort somewhere, I cant be without one now. Yes, agree, the Carbs will get new o-rings and will be rebuilt etc when it's restored next year. The process in this video was simply a quick and dirty to see if it would run or not. Bike is now back in storage until the CBX and the ZX7 are restored. thanks for watching!

@@true-moto-resto Cool. Got a ZX11 myself and always LOVED the GBX exhaust note sound, but, the limitations fo the design soured me on a Purchase + in 1980 they cut the HP with a carb detune.....that and I actually ride mine they are not museum queens. GSX600/750 one of each, ZX11 for whenh I just wanna kill it, and my GL1100 cruiser. Restored the 600 ultra low mileage 2001 survivor, restoring the 750 at the moment, got it running now goin thru it and the GL been sittin all summer with no road time..... Re-doing a few things.
