Awesome !!!!! This one was made early in the year as well, because there is no fresh air setup. At the beginning of production, only the dual T.B.I. LU5, 165 h.p. "crossfire" equipped versions got the cold air induction. Later in the year, the LG4 145 h.p. version got the fresh air setup, but I'm not sure when. I know some folks will say I'm crazy, but I'd have to add the bowling ball wheels/covers back to this otherwise mint looking Trans Am. In my opinion, they just really set off the look of the 1982-83 models. I'd drive this thing like a BOSS !!!!!!!! Who cares about the horsepower ? The cool factor of driving this would be through the roof !!!!!!!!!!!

1982 was the inaugural year for this all new Firebird & Trans Am. truly a legendary vehicle and an icon of the 1980s.

Dual resonator exhaust was awesome. Which is why 83 was the best year. With the air induction hood, 3.73 gear, and the 5speed. 84 would have been the best had they kept the exhaust!

The dual resonator exhaust on the LG4 and LU5 cars is EXTREMELY restrictive.

@@Joesmusclecargarage yeah but it made a lovely sound with the 5-spd. A more modern rendition would be nice and it was more expensive than just a single muffler

+Russell Summerton Maybe but you should take into account cars made that year when comparing.It's obvious with advances being made things will be improved,designed differently and no doubt faster.I say to anyone wanting to compare fairly take a car made the same year UNMODIFIED.

It's not about performance with this car, just about emotion. The style, the enjoyment of cruising with it. Most smaller cars would leave this in the dust, it came out in the worst period of emmition restriction.
