Considering selling my baby and wanted to do a walk around of the car to show it in all it's glory...and to show some of it's few blemishes.

I had the 2 door Hatchback version of this car. I bought mien in 1994 for $400. It had 53k miles and a brand new interior.. I had the 258 inline 6. Same color as well. I could go 80 mph between Cheyenne and Laramie on ice and it held the road like it was on rails. Great car!

I love all the old AMC cars..my mom had a 78' Concord when I was a kid and it started my fascination with them...

Your car looks good. Design is much better than a lot of modern cars.

Great to see an Eagle still able to fly. Always liked the looks of these. Nice find. Hope it has treated you well since 2012.

That is one nice Eagle! I rarely see them anymore; most have rusted away to nothing or crushed.

Dont get rid of the SX4!! Or if you do sell it, make sure it's going to someone who is going to treat it right!! Gotta remember, unlike an early Camaro, for instance, you cant build one of these from scratch, full aftermarket!! When they are gone, they're GONE!!👍👍👍

The car looks nicer with the front end treatment, the clear lenses work well with it. Believe it or not, the fellow who probably put the wood grain onto your car at the factory if it would have been his shift helped to put the stuff onto my Vista Cruiser when it was in that stage of restoration. I hope you decide to keep the Eagle.

Thanks, I do like the front end. Not a fan of the egg crate grill so I really love the look of the Spirit grill and clear lenses. I hope I can sell it, but I won't be heart broken if I don't! :)

Seems to be in very good shape. I would put a stock radio and only stock parts on it

The fine grille looks a lot less clunky. This is why I like the one on my '80. The only year to have the really fine lines.

Hey man. How are you doing? That buzzer which sounded when you put the key in the ignition at about 9:44, I used to be afraid of it as a kid. LOL A family friend had an AMC and as much as I liked the car itself, the old buzzer used to scare me a little. LOL

+IamRafe Ah! Ok. While you were showing us the car, you were showing us some patina, some imperfections on the car. I don't mind patina, as long as it doesn't penetrate into the car. How long did you have the car before you sold the car? :)
@IamRafe
@IamRafe 8 жыл бұрын
+Jason Carpp I think I had it about a year. put around 10k miles on it after the pervious owner had it for a year and put 1000!

Funny how AMC put those fancy leather seats (love those) in a car with crank windows.
@IamRafe
@IamRafe 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was not optioned well for a Limited. Someone paid the extra bucks for the leather seats but no other options really. Just AC and AM/FM Cassette deck.

@@IamRafe I factory ordered an 82 wagon with leather, bear of a 4.2 litre straight six. Copper paint with copper leather interior - it was a beauty, and specifically without power windows etc because it was bound for the Canadian Arctic where power windows fail fast at -40 and colder. I loved that car. Once did the 440 mile gravel Dempster Highway (zero curve signs, guard rails and nary a soul in sight and a couple of mountain passes) in 7 hours and 20 minutes Klondike Corner to Inuvik Airport, including two stops for what we can call adjustments, one stop at Eagle Plains for fuel and to scarf a quick sandwich and two ferry crossings. Mackenzie River and Peel River ferry waiting on my side so this was fated to be. Think that worked out to maybe 69 mph. Rained the day before so no dust and well packed surface, perfect as conditions can get. In those days the nearest service centre for AMC was at least 1500 miles away, in either Anchorage Alaska or northern British Columbia. The only deficiency was the rubber boots on the front axles which without fail cracked in extreme cold and had to be replaced each spring before the snow was gone and mud could make a problem. Learned to pull the stub shafts and place new boots in about 1 1/2 hours per corned after jigging up a tool from an allen key and socket - which really helped my mud lot repairs. Took it places 4 x 4s could not go. The early select track and its viscous coupling in the transfer case meant in deep snow the whole thing kind of hopped as it locked and surged and released and repeated. Stunning engineering in an already geriatric body.

Oh yeah, the Marshall fog lights were garbage, Rusted out in no time and I saw that on practically every Eagle I encountered.

I owned this car for a little over a year and never did anything but good things for it...not sure what you are talking about 🤦🏼‍♂️ unfortunately the person I sold it to had an engine fire a year or so after she bought it from me and her insurance wouldn't let her but it back. It ended up being sold at a copart...no idea where it ended up.

Donna Clayton sold it. New owner had it for several years and then there was an engine fire and the insurance company claimed it. Was sold in a dealer only iaai or Copart auction. 😭

had a 80 limited wagon . very poor parts. ate a cv joint every 10k and a wheel bearing before 50k. mistake to buy first year. awesome in snow and sand
@kevinshiley9061
@kevinshiley9061 4 жыл бұрын
super20dan you said sand? Tha tdd s probably why it was eating CV joints. That stuff gets in everything and dones exactly what it's called!! The sand dust can penetrate in around seals and dust boots and ruin stuff. We found the u joints to rebuild them with too. So much cheaper, a bit more work.

@@kevinshiley9061 80 and 81 were all wheel drive full time. 82 switch to partime 4 wheel. in 1980 cv joints were new tech to Detroit and expencive. just the joint was 300$. no whole shafts sold back then. boots lower quality. mine saw sand only the last 10,000 miles before I sold it . typical AMC quality . good desighn but poor execution. best in snow I ever drove

supef20dan, I had an 81 SX4, but didn't get enough miles on it to find out. I made a mistake and got married. She couldn't drive the 5-‐speed so I had to trade down to a 2wd Spirit. Live and burn........ er, I meant learn!! Haha
