I had an 83 with 2.3 and 4-Speed 4X2. It was a dead reliable little work horse and commuter. I sold it to by an 87 Ranger 2.3 4x2 5-Speed because the 83 didn't have A/C or power steering.

I bought a new one in 1983 with V6, 5 speed, and the optional 7 foot bed. Good little truck.

I loved my '94 Ranger hauled 3k lbs. Of ball bearings 180 miles one time, and the rear suspension still had a half inch short of the stop. It was. An emergency run to keep a factory running and no other vehicle available. Had that truck 12 years. Utterly dependable. But I obviously needed a bigger truck.

I've had my '88 Ranger GT since '02 and it's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. It has 152K miles and has only needed minor maintenance. Can you post any more videos on the first generation Rangers if you have them? Thanks for the video!

Thanks for uploading! Is this a CAV disc?

Yup! Whole thing ran frame by frame. The dealership would have had a player for these that skipped around to the various features (my player is just a consumer model).

This was the first year for the Ranger model right? As it's own truck? The boxy Rangers with two tone paint are georgous looking vehicles.

@@AlejandroP1980s -- they didn't have extended cabs until 86 or 87 same with Eddie bower edition, XLS was top of the line but they were great trucks, I've had a 84 4x4 v-6 long bed 5 speed with dual tanks since 1990 , I bought it of my mother in law who was the original owner and I love it
