My step father had one of those back in the day. Bloody awesome bike. You could doddle along on it, but if you gave it a wrist full on the twisties it was a well planted, fire breathing demon. Heaps of them were courier bikes in the 80s and 90s. If couriers like them you know they're reliable.

I have exactly the same bike in every way here in the UK. Mines in good shape but yours is immaculate and it is running like an absolute dream. I see people saying they were officially produced up to 83 but mine was registered in 84 so it must be one of the very last. They are a great bike. As you were saying...I love the different styling to the early models. I get more attention when I’m out than guys riding new bikes costing tens of thousands. They aren’t quick and they are top heavy but they handle really well when you get them up to speed. Thanks for posting.

Having owned a 1st generation CX500 from 1989-2020, just shy of 100K miles and long enough to have done the stator-magneto replacement I can say shame on the marketing group. This bike should have come to the US.

When I was doing my police bike training in Ireland in 1986 they had a black supersport (Eurosport??) bike like this in the driving school fleet. It was mainly ordinary CX500's. The supersport was my favourite bike to ride so I used it as much as I could even if it was more of a handful during extreme 100mph riding than the basic CX500's.

A German fellow I worked with years ago recognized the bike when it was my daily driver. He said they used to call it the "manure pump" because of the shape of the engine. He remarked how reliable they were. I kept mine to just shy of 100K miles, only let it go when I hung up my helmet.

@@vcv6560 it was really called that because of the comic "werner brösel" in which werner used it as a manure pump and this name stuck to it in germany and I even call mine the same name because it's hilarious😂 Mine wasn't even running and a few parts were broken, which is the reason why I allowed myself to build a cafe racer out of it👌 Otherwise, I love to see the original ones on the street too😋

I am confused ,if this is naturally aspirated engine how come it needs coolant ?
@m.p.7075
@m.p.7075 2 жыл бұрын
Because it’s a liquid cooled engine. It needs coolant weather it is a naturally aspirated engine or turbo charged. Perhaps you are confusing naturally aspirated with air cooled.
