"...engines producing over 2,500 horse power..." @7:40 ain't it great how far we've come. I wonder if they could even fathom 11,000 hp 30 years later.

If they still made 2500 hp maybe we'd still have full fields in the nitro classes.

Yeah really!!! Now days, these monsters run “Dual Everything”. 2 mags, 2 spark plugs per cylinder (that was Raymond Beadle’s idea), dual fuel pumps (over 160-170 gpm). For a short period of time, Kenny Bernstein and Dale Armstrong actually tried three mags & spark plugs per cylinder, but the motor was thirsty for fuel, it was almost running the tank dry. I honestly believe that the NHRA should go to a basic nitro nostalgia funny car engine package. Fun shit! They always have lots of cars at Famoso for the March Meet. Switch to a modern body...and PRESTO! Not only with the car turned out improve, but the folks that run the nostalgia floppers (with the body change) would even be competitive. Some of the tracks might even be able to match races again… Fun shit!

They don't make cars like this anymore I remember when funny cars looked like real cars. This new stuff they have now it's just not the same. I remember when pro stock had all the brands competing against each other and had carburetors. Now it's nothing but Chevrolet in pro stock now it's just not the same nhra is nothing like what it used to be
