If crime can go back up like it’s 1983 why can’t the price of living go back down like it’s 1995 in New York City

I’m a Republican who’s been living on Long Island for almost my whole life and thought Mayor Ed Koch was great mayor! Had a lot of respect for this man!

Checking the stats here, just on NYC homicides. There was a slight decrease in 1983 to a total 1,622. in 1985 and 1986 the numbers went down modestly. Then, towards the end of the Koch regime, they jumped up again: to 1,672 in '87, 1,896 in '88 and 1,905 in '89. Koch didn't do diddly squat to solve for crime. And don't get me started on his successor! What political party was in charge? The same one DeBlasio and Adams belong to!🤬

@@l.n963 Yes.the only reason why..people are saying NYC is worse now.then back then is because of gentrification.now in NYC. And social media.think about it since.NYC have been gentrified..Now everyone is hyping the crime up in NYC.and the rich people who live in those once high crimes areas.don't wanna live in that

That is bull, crime was up and so was the cocaine war. Fox News kudos to you for going into the archives and pulling this up. Get all the mayors so we can compare.

i think gentrification set in in the mid 80's when crime went down slightly as i mentiined but then crack spread and led to the record numbers in the early 90's. i just hope they wont let it go that far because its possible look at philly broke its 1990 murder record last year

Crack had just about every city upside down but a revolving door justice system didn't help. Giuliani is needed at this point for NYC. Trying to give Adams a chance but not looking too good and politically he would throw police under the bus if it suits his needs. That nut of a DA in manhattan he supported at one time is a perfect example.

Release 200 prisoners from Rikers island and then ask why the crime rate increased? When NYPD anti-crime squads operate, and the public backs it Police, the crime statistics will display a decline. This is not magic and is definitely needed to take back the streets!

Everything is fine people. It only looks like crine is increasing in nyc. It only looks like the prices of groceries are more. Its all in your mind. All we need it 4 more years and our plan will work. When all the undocumented start to work and pay taxes then we will have plenty of money that can go toward the ever increasing deficit 😅
