Cliff Stoudt had 2 super bowl rings and an NFL pension before he ever took a regular season snap.

I forgot how bad Cliff stoudt was. Too bad Bradshaw missed almost all of that season. They may have been able to go on a run if he were healthy.

@Bigchet1223 • Bad? Who did Stoudt have to throw to in 1983? Swann retired....Jim Smith went to the USFL....Stallworth and Greg Hawthorne were hurt most of the season, each missing 10 games. All he had was 3 rookies

In retrospect, the Steelers wouldve been better to miss the playoffs altogether. If they didnt have a chance, Noll wouldnt have played Bradshaw at all in '83 and his elbow wouldve likely fully healed.. He was planning to play an additional 4-5 years.

@GB-fv4fb I disagree. You always want to make the playoffs. Steelers only made playoffs 4 times in the 1980s. In 1984 they upset a 13-3 Denver team with Mark Malone at qb. In 1983 they came across a great raiders team that also destroyed a 14-2 Redskins team in the super bowl. I don't get your logic. You always want to win your division and get into the playoffs. Steelers finished 10-6 in 83. They were a young team with some veterans. You must be a browns fan. Wanting to tank for draft picks?????

1983 Terry Bradshaw retired and made playoffs lost to Super Bowl Champion Raiders in the playoffs followed another year in playoff beat Denver Broncos playoffs 24-17 lost afc championship to Miami Dolphins whom lost to San Francsisco 49ers super bowl Palo alto

@jamiejohnson4524 Noll's loyalty was to the players he wanted to draft...that was his downfall. He kept Dwight White and cut Dewaine Board in 1979, who then signed with the 49ers and helped them win 4 Super Bowls
