I loved the football of the 70s and 80s, there was a real grittiness to the matches with the muddy pitches and the brilliant atmosphere of the crowd.......now in the modern game with the money obssessed pampered players playing on beautifully manicured pitches, you've lost a lot of the real heart and soul in the game and a lot of its charm.

Totally agree with you. I find the premiership boring. Too many average foreign players and managers. VAR with spoil football. Its a crime today to pass the ball long. I get fed up with passing for the sake of it.

SAFC ...great away support as always despite continuous relegation battles in early 80s.

That season was remarkable for the amount of Penalties Utd missed, Strachan and Olsen were both taken Off pens for missing and Whiteside missed again here, I would love to see the stats.

Strachan scored only 8 from 13 penalties that season..he was hopeless.

@gwiley7871 Thanks. For some reason even I thought Olsen took them after Strachan quit taking them (pretty sure after all those misses he fell on his sword, so to speak, rather than wait for Big Ron to choose Whiteside).

Cheers for the upload. But it would make better viewing if the score had not been revealed beforehand.

No he wasn't. Look how many games he played. Wouldn't have won the cup in 83 if not gor him

Everton had taken Sunderland apart 4-1 a few weeks before this game yet we could only draw 2-2 with them. One of the reasons why we didn't win the league that season. We just didn't have the consistency
@davidsanderson59184 жыл бұрын
Mr Kipling Yeah we (Sunderland) didn't have the consistency to win the league that season either. :)

Dave Sanderson 😂😂😂got to a cup final though. Both our teams did!!

@@mrkipling2201 Yeah a penalty miss in your final? And of course Moran's red for a foul on Peter Reid in the FA Cup final.
