I disassembled the 33 year old tail lights to clean them up and make them look better than they were. They showed every bit of their age. They are not perfect, but definitely are no longer an eyesore on the car!

Nice job. You can also clean the inside of the license plate lights too, just use a q tip inside and dish soap wished them:) I did that for mine until I could get new ones. Also, you can get those clips for the lights from the body shop stores. The lights look great!

I like how you took the light apart and cleaned up and painted the inside. Haven’t seen that in another video. I would clean up/ sand the exterior to 600 grit and then apply a 2k clear which hardens to the entire exterior.

I did the same on my 83, they came out really nice! Biggest problem i ran into is the metal clips, haven't found replacements yet. Great vid.

Thats awesome, and thanks! Yea I couldnt find them either, and not sure where you could look. Maybe 3rd gen ranch? I no longer have this car, traded it out for a new project Im hoping to start next year sometime.

I had to do something, they were miserable lol . It is so hard to find good ones, every set I see looks like mine did before this.

I'm going to try and superglue all the cracks in my lenses. Then I'll sand that down and clear over it. I noticed the black between the lenses is clear/ amber/ red when you sand it down. Considering leaving it the lens color instead of painting it black again.

I hope you can post it when your done, I would like to see what it looks like with the black the lens color!

Oh that's a great idea!! The finish would probably last longer too, not get dulled out as quick

The cursed Camaro...lol. Hopefully it's all coming together now. I've ran into a few snags of my own. I'm going to rip out all that old insulation in mine as well. Don't know what I will find...lol. Camaro Central has a cheaper version of dynamat, 36 sq ft for $119, so will probably go with that :) Good luck on your project!

Its on hold for the winter right now, will finish it up in the spring. Starting with sterring and suspension, then new carpet and redo all the interior panels. I was thinking of dynamat as well, seems easier and cleaner to install and less desirable to critters! Thanks!

Nice video, thanks for sharing. I am restoring my 84' Z28 so will definitely use your technique. So what type of paint did you use - flat black or satin black finish?
@Snickerrick7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I used satin black on mine. Good luck with your restoration,are you posting videos?

No, I need to though....camera shy :) Would like to see a pic of yours. That's cool that you have the same year as mine. My dad passed away back in 2001 and he left it to me, so I am working on restoring it.

Yea i try to avoid the camera as well lol. I show the car in 2 other videos, kzbin.info/door/qzh7D8NHdvcdvjcjY_kSDg I always like seeing others projects, its pretty interesting!
