Love the fact you hang out with a cigarette next to the truck. Reminds me of my dad when he and I worked on cars. Miss my dad.

Only a mason would take a steering wheel apart with an Estwing block or brick cutting hammer! I had the exact same 1984 Ford f150 with a 5 speed over drive and straight six 300 engine. mine was the same color of blue, box a short box and not a 4x4. This sure brings back memories of my masonry/house moving businees!...ps. best work truck I ever had...Gary in Michigan

Gary I found that hammer years ago laying in the trunk of an old car I bought. I know nothing about laying brick or blocks. Some of my favorite tools are ones I found here and there. As far as the 4x4 truck goes, stay tuned for a follow up video. I’ve got to get it driving next.

Great video !!! As soon as you mentioned the motor is a 300/6 I new the motor was good as its bullet proof!!! I like that you have different cars featured on your channel and not always LS motors and 350s which is all over done!!! Thanks!!!!

They are getting harder to find every day. I search marketplace everyday looking for cars and trucks to buy. I hope I can continue to find them so I can have something to video. Only time will tell. Thank you for watching.

I'm 30+ yrs turning wrenches. I've worked on pretty much anything, including drag race door slammers. Ford's are basically easy to work on. It's all in your mind and whatever prejudices you have that make it hard. I know plenty that have changed clutches, fly wheels, rear main's, and whatever else you might find. The pan of a 300 should come out easy. But the outside case you might run into is picking the block up out of the mounts to gain enough to slide it out. Be aware of the pick up for the oil pump if you're leaving it in to change all of that stuff. I think your fly wheel is fine, you've got a bad Bendix in the starter. Change that out while you're at it. Change the thermostat cus they love to stick from sitting. A new water pump wouldn't hurt either. If you can find it, a big block radiator would keep the water way cooler. And yes, they put big blocks in this body style so they definitely sell replacements. You can look into LMC for most anything the truck might need. You'll recoop your money when you sell it easy. Keeping a list of all of that and what you spent, is small when you sell it for a decent price. It'll also, all give you plenty of bargaining power if it's all done. Change out the brakes, all the way, plus the engine parts, brother, you'll have a sure winner on your hands. It's a fwd truck. I'd normally say put a small block in it. But doing basics is how you ensure a good profit.

Yes sir, good advice! If I can’t get it running and driving then I can sell it cheap enough for someone else to do all of this extra stuff. Sometimes you can sell a barn find that hasn’t run in 30 years for more that a running and driving truck.
